Enough already. The front page of the board is all about the playoffs and nothing about the bills. There are 4 games left we should be taking this week by week. There are no give me games in the nfl.
It's hard not to get excited bu I do agree, I just ant to beat the Bills this week. I am not worried about the playoffs just yet.
I agree, BUT, you can't help but get excited with the direction the team is taking. Sure, playoffs are a greater possibility for this team now than they were at the beginning of the season, so why not share in the excitement. I think that coupled with the playoff talk is the notion that the next 4 games are not gimmees, and that this team must bring the same intensity to the next 4 that we saw in the first half of the GB game. We're doing well now, should we just focus on the draft instead?
Your statement would be well-advised if everyone on this board were all Jets players and staff. But we're not. It's not the Jets that are talking playoffs, it's us. The Jets are focused on the Bills game. It's us who are focused on the playoffs. So for all practical purposes, it makes no difference if we're talking about the superbowl even. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen and we really have no play in it whatsoever, other than sitting here typing speculative playoff scenarios onto a message board.
The jets could loose this weekend and these post will change very quickly. I just think we are getting just a little ahead with 4 games left.
I agree. By Monday morning the entire scenario will be different (hopefully improved, even)! Oops! We're talking about the playoffs! Now, cut that out!
Or, the Jets could win this weekend and then the flurry of playoff posts may be too much for you to take.... Hey, I'll take the posts, it beats some of the other nonsense we see around here, like trading backup player X for superstar player Y, or that a player must be good because his ratings are exceptional in Madden...
Yeah, it's tough not to get ahead of ourselves, but recent history shows that by doing in the past we ended up with egg on our face. Beat the Bills next week! Let's hope that's all Mangini has them thinking about!
yeah. i'd hate to jinx us, but it's hard to not dicuss it. the only thing i fear is all the manics on this board; if we lose this week, the reactions will be scary. cheers
12 games have been played.. its not like it's week 3. Playoff talk is acceptable. Now, we shouldn't lose focus on the Bills, but fortunately, regardless of where our focus is, it has no bearing on the game.
Wait we don't play for the team? It can't be! If I wasn't on the team I probably wouldn't refer to a victory as "our victory" or The Jet Won as "We Won". I don't think there is a ton of playoff talk. It seems to be excitement with a hint of playoffs. These next couple of games are the most meaningful games a Jet's fan has had in quite some time Thats something to be excited about!
I thought by this time of the season we would be discussing about the 2007 draft. Buffalo is a big obstacle that Mangini's Jets need to overcome.:jets: I'm confident enough say that by Monday we'll be 8-5 and talking about taking the division.
ummm Im pretty sure we can talk about the playoffs without affecting the actual outcomes of the games...if all the Jet players were n this site acting like they had already clinched a spot then Id be concerned
When exactly do you start talking about maybe making the playoffs. Whats a good start..being up by 2 with a game to go? We are fans. Sometimes smart, sometimes dumb fans. Jet fans to top it off. When your tied for the final playoff spot with 4 to go, wouldnt you regret making the playoffs and not discussing the trip to get there? Trying to control what people are feeling and saying seems a bit like a waste of time. Especially in a year when not one honest soul could have expected that game 13 would mean a lot...a possible trip to the playoffs.
I look at it this way; we never even thought of mentioning the P word at the start of the season. Now we have a shot almost unbelievably. Nobody thought we would be here this year. This said, we are doing good but are not in by a mile yet. We have 4 tough games to get through, none of which will be easy. We know we can do it, but that is not enough, this is "show me" time. We get better every week, and Mangini has this team peaking at the right time. The one thing I doubt, or would be really surprised at, is if we came out flat as hell and continued to play that way for the rest of the game, for one or more of the remaining games. Mangini has these guys fired up and believing and it shows. I personally want to see us run the table and go into the playoffs totally upbeat and beaming with confidence. It all comes down to playing smart and good execution from here on in. Each week the stakes get higher. I never thought I wouild ever be writing something like this during this year. It is a testament to just how great a job Mangini is doing.
We wouldn't be green-blooded Jets fans if we didn't talk about playoff possibilities. Going 4-12 was so painful (did we really do that?) that compared to last year, this is Excitement City. Taking the division, LI Jet Fan? Oh YAY-UH. Bring it on baby! Make NE come to our house again so we can slap them around one more time for good measure, just to let them know who the bitch is!
This is the post I would hope the majority would remember when and IF the Jets drop 1-2 more games this year. Hoping for the playoffs is fine, but people will end up having a skewed expectation from this team if they end up nearly missing it. We will hundreds of posts wanting to burn the organization to the ground and shipping off the whole team for pop warner recruits. This year was supposed to be a retool - regroup year. And here we are doing well for ourselves. It is very encouraging for the future! We are still a bit of a long shot though.
remember when everyone said that we were going to be 5-11 or 6-10 or sumthinn like that wow even our own fans dont have faith in them some times
Not to mention that there are a few other 7-5 teams out there just like us. One of whom shut us out. Still. So what? Playoff talk seems fine to me right about now.
