It's off topic, but what's so impressive about Fizdale? I don't think he'd done anything great before coming to NY and the Knicks are bad this year (though they were bad before he arrived so it probably isn't his fault).
Agreed. I think someone experienced could do wonders for this team. But Harbaugh won't come to the jets if Maccagnan is at the helm.
This would be best thing to happen to this franchise since the hiring of Parcells IMHO. The gravitas would be palpable. Too much?
It would be exciting to have a super bowl winning head coach running the show, but would need to make sure he's paired with a GM that has a good relationship with him. Rex and Idzik were forced together, Macc and Bowles as well. Time to hire a tandem that actually know each other and work well with one another.
Ozzie Newsome is stepping down after the season. If Harbaugh splits from Baltimore maybe you bring him in with his old boss for many years as a package deal. That's the stuff dreams are made of. Doubt the Johnson's have the balls to pull something like that off though
He is not injured. He is benched. Ya'll are killing me. You don't go from fine to mysterious foot injury after a 4 interception game to being out for a freakin month!
I disagree. See Mehta and Cimini, like normal human beings, want to have success in their jobs for the next 3-5 years. They also recognize that Sam Darnold is likely going to be around and often be the top story for the Jets for the next 3-5 years. If you write about him having a fake injury, you fuck yourself for 3-5 years, plain and simple. Darnold himself will be antagonistic towards you and the Jets organization will not trust you. if it's your job to work with them every day and get the inside scoop. Forget about it, you just made it infinitely more difficult. Journalists learn to pick their battles like everyone else
I wonder about Newsome. Think the biggest mistake he made was giving Flacco that ridiculous extension, but I also wonder how all these losing years of missed playoffs and shitty records, and if it has affected their relationship
I'm not positive about this, but Newsome's drafting has slipped a bit since the Super Bowl 47 season. But he does have a track record Macc can only dream about for sure.
Cimini has been a beat writer for the jets for a long time and has not shown to care what kind of light he casts the jets in. I doubt he suddenly is playing the long game.
He has always been playing the long game. He's very skilled at it. That's why he's been around for a long time How many times have we seen him in 2016, 2018, whatever, write a little anecdote about something Jets related he witnessed in 1993 or something? Like dude, you didn't write about that back then but NOW you are? Same thing will happen here. In like 2024 or something. "New Jets QB Peyton Manning Jr. is being tended to with cautious eyes. It reminds me of back in Sam Darnold's rookie year - remember him?- and the Jets put a fake boot on his foot so they could call him injured instead of benching him" and we'll all be like WTF Cimini ?????
The problem here is that as much as the "back channels" are buzzing, and I'm sure they are, who is channeling that talk on the Jets end? Has MacCagnan quietly been upgraded in his responsibilities? Is Christopher Johnson manning the phones? Or is there a secretary and a couple of interns grinding away at the most important decision since PSL's?
Ok you win, he’s not hurt. I give up. The biggest city in the country filled with reporters who love to play the lol jets card is ignoring what would be a juicy national storyline for a solid 2 weeks at least . Sounds reasonable.
You can make this shit up but shame on anyone for eating it. If Sam or any anonymous teammate, media hack or family member or his agent even hints at this and the league office catches wind, we get fined, possibly lose draft picks, his agent never lets a player sign with the Jets again, Darnold’s family starts tweeting, it’s fucking stupid. But there are still some here (i) desperate enough to make it up and (ii) dumb enough to believe it. He’s injured.
Couple weeks ago, they said he was week to week with an elbow injury, but was he REALLY injured? Coming off an 84 yard passing day the week prior. Let me check the Bills message board to see if there's a similar topic.
