I would say not many if any at all. Excluding the college coaches since most college coaches don’t want to leave their cushy college job for the uncertainty of the NFL.

Jets are a dream job for an upcoming coach. Young stud QB in place, the most cap room in the league plus a top 5 pick. The opportunity for instant success doesn’t get much better than that.

 

I would love to get Jim Harbaugh. Don't see it unless we're giving him full control and a boatload of money. Scott Frost is 2 followed by David Shaw. I would love to see Frost a former Jet get the job. It would be a radical hire but at this point what's wrong with radical?

However, on a coach's salary, one could easily live in beautiful (and delicious) bourbon country on the Kentucky side of the river and commute into town. I wouldn't want to live anywhere within a two-hour drive of Dallas, but that may just be me.

 

I like and agree with your post, but especially like your last line.

 

I lived in Dallas in graduate school and loved it. Conversely, I wouldn't want to live over a half-hour, or an hour at most away from Dallas in any direction.

I think that if the Cowboys fire garrett, the job is Riley's to lose.

 

I voted for Defilippo, LaFleur, and Campbell. I think that Jim H is unrealistic, and John H would be an intriguing name but i don't think he's the offensive mind that most of us are craving.

I like that he gets his players to play smart and disciplined, and has gotten efficiency out of lower level recruits. There's nothing there to suggest that he could do that at the NFL level or with higher level players, however. Maybe he might be a good hire if Mac is retained as GM, but otherwise, he'd be at the bottom of my list.

 

After doing some more thought and research, I have changed my mind. Jim Harbaugh is still #1, #2 is now Mike McCarthy, and #3 is John Harbaugh. LaFleur and DeFilippo are tied for #4.

 

Fine by me. He knows a lot more about anything/everything related to football than anyone associated with the organization (including the two buffoon owners).

 

Funny how people say, OMG, the only way Jim H would come is if you give him complete control. As if that would be detrimental to an organization where no one appears to be in control, nor accountable. While people with too much power become dictatorial in the long run, any top knotch coach should not and will not accept a position in such a weak and wishy-washy organization without demanding major control. You want someone accountable and capable, that is what is going to take. And this sorry excuse for an NFL team absolutely needs a person with NFL acumen that takes no prisoners. GM/Player coach my ass.

 

Hey, Buddy, while you're sitting out there in Chicago remember it's called the Second City for a reason. Any coach who would pass up a chance to build a winning team in the world's First City is a coach I would not hire.

I voted for John DeFilippo. I don't think Harbaugh would come here, and I wanted to pick someone we have a realistic chance of hiring.

 

I have. Seems to be a fine place for anybody with plenty of cash to play with raising race horses.

 

We need Arians, but it won't happen.

 

Covington Kentucky? I don't think so. I don't consider Lexington or Frankfort to be commuting distance to Cincinnati.

 

Sparta or Claryville --Covington is basically in Cincinnati, as far as I'm concerned.

 

The Harbaughs are not going to leave their situations.
