Never said he would Don’t think Bowles will get a second HC gig, he’ll probably go back to being a successful DC though.

My response was to the poster that said something to the effect that a retread HC can’t work because if they are jobless there is a reason they are jobless.

You are one obstinant SOB. What does someone's avatar date as to when they joined this site have to do with how long they've been a fan of the Jets for? If that's the case I guess you've only been a fan since 2013. See how easy that was to do. Give the conjecture a rest.

Just because the team has taken chances on the wrong guys as first time HC's doesn't mean they have to keep doing it. You have to be creative in this league to win. The Jets braintrust just needs to do a better job of picking the right guy, experienced or inexperienced. Or hire a guy to do all of this for them since they can't seem to get it right.

    Interesting.

Iowa St. among the least penalized teams with Campbell at the helm:
#17 in least penalized teams for 2018.
    #12 in 2017
    #64 in 2016

    Edit: Amending some data

    Campbell coached Toledo from 2011-2015
    #122 in 2015
    #80 in 2014
    #56 in 2013
    #92 in 2012
    #108 in 2011 (Interim coach)

    Iowa St (without Campbell)
    #17 in 2015
    #9 in 2014
    #70 in 2013
    #20 in 2012
    #91 in 2011

It seems like the data does support the fact that Campbell runs a disciplined team as the numbers do seem to improve year over year.

You can take your name calling and shove it up your ass. I tried to be kind to you, but you don't deserve it.

Since you were obviously so ignorant of the Jets HC history, I guessed and was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt as a reason for your ignorance (that you only became a fan in 2006) since that date is in your avatar. I won't make the mistake again of trying to be kind or giving you the benefit of the doubt. So you may have been a fan longer. Whoop-ti-do! You don't definitely say that you were, however. Whatever the case, I don't care. You can give your conjecture about whether I'm ignorant about Toub or whether my mind is open or closed a rest, too. You started with the conjecture and insults.

I certainly don't need you to tell me what it takes to win in the NFL, nor have I said anything that would lead anyone with a reasonable amount of intelligence to assume that I was against creativity, especially since I often speak of thinking out of the box here.

Then put me on ignore. I'm free to state my opinions. If you don't like it, too bad.

Yet another reason Bowles has to go. I blame him for the infighting!

My short list, and I picked NO defensive coaches:

Jim Harbaugh, University of Michigan head coach - Give him anything he wants

    Pete Carmichael, Saints offensive coordinator

    Josh McDaniels, Patriots offensive coordinator

    Eric Bieniemy, Chiefs offensive coordinator

Dan Campbell, Saints tight ends coach

David Shaw, Stanford University head coach

    Zac Taylor, Rams quarterbacks coach

Lincoln Riley, University of Oklahoma head coach – My gut says he could be the Browns’ new HC

I’ll take any coach over dumbass Bowles but plenty of ex head coaches find success elsewhere.

Actually recent history has proven “retreads” have more Super Bowl titles than coordinators and Lord knows weve seen our fair share of horrible coordinator/coaches here. Listing failed head coaches like the guy above me did is just dumb and proves nothing. I don’t have the time or the desire to list all the coordinators that went onto be shitty head coaches like Todd Bowles but the list would be long

he would suck in the NFL. He's not a great scheme coach as it is. He wins because of his recruiting. He's also got phony rules and religious agendas. That works in the South and helps him in recruiting but in a locker room of grown men in NY it would be a disaster

I say we hire Chris Petersen of UW and then fire Macc out of a cannon. Washington has hit a snag in it's growth the last two years. Petersen is a great developer of talent but can't recruit like Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban. He's not winning the title or any playoff game any time soon. He's also very familiar with Darnold at USC. And is already wanted by several NFL personnel departments and I could see him taking over the Seahawks when Carroll leaves.

Listen, this is the way I see it. The Harbaugh brothers are a pipe dream. Jim will never leave Ann Arbor and I'll bet the first thing John does is head to Denver and Elway. David Shaw's a decent coach but he will never leave Stanford. And his offenses are as boring as dish soap any way. We can try out an inexperienced assistant AGAIN or we can maybe try for a great football mind who MIGHT not close the door on us.

    Whatta Think?

Its not supposed to prove anything-- it's supposed to be a list of the "retreads" you have to choose from. Now you're supposed to pick which one you want. This is me making things easy for you, since you're so busy and all....
