I know I will get heat for this but honestly In hindsight was it really worth firing him??? Maybe I’m in the minority but i didn’t want them to fire him after 2014. I was at the game today it was awful. I can remember being at the game in 09 against the pats huge win for our team. It feels like it was 100 years ago.
The guy they should’ve have kept was Eric Mangini...Rex won with his guys. The longer Rex was here, the worse things got!!! (Kidding about the keeping Mangini, but I have to admit, I wonder what kind of coach he’d be now. Heard an interview with him recently and he was damn impressive. I think he finally realized you can’t act like Belichick, you have to be yourself. One things for sure, he had an eye for talent).
OMG! You are totally clueless. Have you forgotten that things were just as bad at the end with Rex as they are now? Have you forgotten what a circus he made the Jets? Have you forgotten what a clueless, dumbass he is? This post and thread is worthy of a month ban.
We were on the brink of a super bowl with Rex. Now we are making Matt Barkley look like Jesus Christ.
Maybe hire him as Director of Scouting or even as Director of Football Operations and let him hire the new GM.
We were on the brink of a worse clusterfuck than now!!! Rex got the benefit of the smart, experienced, disciplined, team that Mangini built. He enjoyed the bump that all players coaches enjoy when following a strict disciplinarian that almost always happens for the first year or two, and then things go into a tailspin/dive, and that's exactly what happened with Rex. You should stop before you make yourself look any worse.
LOL I did like Rex for a while but c'mon now. His act produced results when it started and then it all went downhill. TV is a perfect place for him.
Absolutely not! Rex did the same thing to us. If he was so good why was he shit canned in Buffalo so fast. No more defensive coordinators! We need an offensive guy this time
LMFAO! Only the Jets organization an fire a complete idiot HC, hire an even worse than the last HC, and the fan base starts missing the first idiot! Won't be long there will be Shouldve kept Idzik threads
I'm not going to blast the OP. Yes ... things went off the rails with Rex, and it was time for a change after 4-12. But the fact is, he won more playoff games than this clown will win if he coaches another 20 years. The mistake wasn't firing Rex. The mistake was Woody allowing that idiot Charlie Casserly to convince him that he couldn't let Bowles leave the building. For the record, I was very happy to see Mangini go. The guy who really got a raw deal was Herm. He makes the playoffs 3 times in 5 years and somehow that wasn't good enough for THIS franchise.
All of our coaches best years where with the prior coaches and GM’s players. They all start out winning then crash, burn, and get fired. Every. Single. Time.
Man some of you guys are really obsessed with a few playoff wins..the end of Rexs tenure was a bigger clusterfuck then this.
Mangini as Director of personnel or scouting is reasonable. We really need a top gun as VP of total football ops.
rex lost all his power when the fat was sucked from his once bountiful body. Those jiggly jowels had 10-11 win seasons in them on a yearly basis. Some say the suctioned fat is still hidden beneath the grounds of old giants stadium, forever to fester.
