Man, back-to-back coaches that didn't know shit about offense and couldn't find anyone that does. Rex had Shotty foisted on him, but his selections blew chunks anyway...
Are you basing his ability to call plays on his 3 -10 season or his 1-11 season as a play caller? He called plays for Colorado , Reid calls the plays for KC. What QBs has Bieniemy developed? Did Naggy develop Mahomes in 2017 or did Bieniemy develop him in training camp? He's got a ways to go before he becomes a HC.
i'm not concerned about records. you think the pats should have refused to hire belichick based on his record with the browns? he's been with the chiefs now for 6 years. 1st year as an OC. he's been learning under ried who is one of the best offensive minds in the game. it's worth a shot. he was good enough in college to land an NFL job and got promoted from RB coach to OC. taking an offensive guy form the andy ried tree seems like a logical choice as any. i highly doubt gameday he is sitting on the sidelines playing candy crush while ried does everything
You said he Knows how to call plays and develop a QB.... I asked you what your basing it on. You don't have an answer because both are inaccurate. Now he's was a RB coach under Reid, Now hes OC . That makes him HC material? Maybe a couple of years from now. Belichick had experience. Bieniemy does not.
It's really sad when you think about how long it's been since we have had an OC who actually knew what he was doing.
I cant fault the guy..he turned down the job initially. Bowles just didnt have anybody else qualified in his rolodex to turn to after Gailey & Morton. He was already at a disadvantage considering the Pre sam QB situation & the fact that He wants these OCs to deploy 1980s scoring philosophy & took the easy way out by basically forcing OC on Bates. What really burns me up about Bowles beyond all the rest of his faults is when he was hired he said itd be about both sides of the ball including offense which Rex neglected. Hes been basically the exact same crap as Rex except Rex actually hired qualified OC’s & would occassionally get aggressive w shots down field. The offense has continued to take a backseat to defense w a “good enough” conservative outdated scoring philosophy which Bowles doesbt even really deny at this stage. How can ownership possibly ignore a cosch who thinks not turning the ball over takes precendence over scoring points???
Bates will be able to open up the playbook a little more with Mccown at the helm, so we'll see what he's really made of. He knows the pressure is on. A good coach will step back and analyze his game and make adjustments. I don't think it's all on him though. There are some important players banged up. He will have to be creative against Buffalo's defense.
Miami had the 29th worst run defense coming into the game ... and gave up 600 yards on the ground in the three previous games ... and this genius dials up 21 runs in a one score game ... and only 8 in the first half! ... with one being that idiotic end around to Anderson. We have a struggling Rookie QB, 5 turnstiles on the OL, and a center who can't get him the ball ... so why not line up in empty sets and sling it 40 times in a one score game? Yeah ... there's a chance he might be part of the problem.
All you need to know about this guy is he called a play action throw back pass on the first play of the season. How the hell can you be running play action when you haven't even ran the ball once??????????????????????????????? Let alone it was a throw back pass LOL! There has been no creativity with the guy whatsoever. He is just as boring as the HC. I can't believe we fired Morton for this clown. Yes, at times Morton was a little pass happy when the game called for running the ball, but guys were running open - the scheme worked. This clown has Darnold throwing to guys with defenders draped on their backs on every curl or hook route. I can't wait for him and Bowles to both go.
Morningwood was decent, unfortunately he was strapped with Eugene Smith as his QB. Morton was better than Bates and actually made Anderson the primary target of his scheme, he recognized who his best offensive player was. Bates was forced to do the job and it shows at this point, Pride is the only thing driving these guys to do their jobs. Bowles is probably a pariah amongst coaches right now and he needs to be fired, no one will want to come here and coach for this guy after these four years.
