Well that just sucks. How long does the fall run last down your way? The big blues and Stripers are passing thru here headed southbound and loading up on everything.
The fall mullet run is pretty much over in NE FL, prob down south by now.... BUT inshore fishing in general gets better now with the drop in water temps, same with the offshore scene. Yeah, my brother got a nice 32"(or 33?) Striper from his yak 2 weeks ago.... then went a few days ago and got 8 (all shorties though)
Light workload this week, so I played hookey yesterday.... Fished inshore yesterday morning. Few trout on mirrolure topwater plug.... then got some reds back in the creeks. Mostly rats (15-18").... then went surfing from 4 until dark.
Old man winter made an early appearance here. Looking at after turkey day for my first Tog trip. Water should be cooling down nicely. Sea Bass are far offshore. Perhaps one more trip before 2019 depending on Mama Nature.
I was up there for the holiday..... went to Long Beach on friday. FLAT as I've ever seen and CCCOOOLD, But LOTS of boats offshore fishing (tougher than me) so I guess they were onto something
Every weekend its been raining and the Tog reports haven't exactly got me revved up to go freeze my ass off inshore. I got every friday off except the first week of Dec for the rest of the year so I'm hoping one of those fridays will be decent.
Looks like we're headed offshore tomorrow for the striped torpedos gonna be chilly sunrise ride out 55 miles in a center console but weather and seas are supposed to be nice cmon!
Go do some damage! We're pretty much done here for the winter. Waiting on Spring Cod. I do have several bucket list trips planned for 2019 and FL again in 2020.
High Speed trolled most of the day (luckily I didnt have to pay for gas).... got 2 hoos. One over 50# and one prob around 40# Of course my buddy who made sure I brought bottom rods/tackle didnt get bait.
Got an invite to look for cobes tomm morn out of JAX.... on the fence as it's gonna be cold and a bit bumpy for the size boat (and I'm working till 9 tonight).... plus I'd like to watch some real football tommorrow after a season of sunday garbage (Chargers-Ravens gmae is the one I'm most looking forward to this week)
Santa gave me 2 new 2500 Penn Spinfisher VIs (actually one, but looks like 2 were sent by accident... a Christmas Miracle!) Need to get two new rods and go chase some reds looking for sunny shallow warm water
Black Hole fishing rods... High quality and I think American made. I'm having another custom deep drop rod built. 7.5ft, 40-80lb line, 4-16oz lead, Fast action, 9 guides, aluminum reel seat, EVA foam grips. Should be ready by March. My guy is a master rod builder and always does outstanding work. I was thinking about getting Jet colors but I came to my senses.
