Yeah, I kind of agree. I saw Bates listed in Gil Brandt's top 7 NFL HC candidates and I thought...hmm, that might be a way to replace Bowles but still have continuity. But then I realized that Bates has done absolutely nothing this year to even be on the radar for a promotion. Too bad Belichick has such a hard-on for the Jets. Would have liked to see them make a run at McDaniels. But BB would never, ever let that happen.
Yep. The answer to everything is to get more conservative & the run ball when ever things get tough offensively. Marty lyons kept saying during the game that Darnold looked best when things were up tempo spread out & he was reacting rather than thinking..its a keen observation that has proven true thus far.but we only saw it for one drive today when the CS was forced to let it hang out in the 2 minute drill at the end of the half.We never saw it again until game was out if reach.. But when you hear the HC after the game & frankly after last game it all makes sense:”Not turning the ball over is the most important thing” & then right back to talking about the defense.
This may be the wrong thought process, but I just want to do whatever will end this particular conversation... Which probably means cleaning house Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
It is infuriating how inept the Jets are compared to teams like the Rams & Bears. Young QB's.... follow their damn formula. Fire Bowles and hire an offensive mind.
I have a dream that the Jets staff will one day operate in an organization where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their coaching.
If jets fired Bowles now itd be based on the offense rather than the defense. That in mind theyd have to fire Bates too.Not only is Bates the only one suited to be the OC hes also Darnold’s QB coach. As bad as things are right now ya cant leave Sam w stump Mitchell showin him the ropes even for 8 games.
I'd give him a shot, even if he was selling used cars yesterday - lord knows Jeremy Bates and Todd Blowes are not helping Darnold or winning games.
Seriously, as football-ignorant as the Johnson boys are, even THEY had to be shocked that Long was allowed to stay in the game like that, and if anything would trigger Bowles's firing it will be that.
If we do fire Bowles, let do something really crazy.... Kevin Green for head coach lol Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
It was hovering on butt fumble level embarassment ..how stubborn could they be? How could they put the entire team’s well being at stake w something so self defeating? Would love to know what the D was thinking during that nonsense. And then cant even man up to it after the game. What kind of garbage standard for success is that?
Agreed. That is why I have always thought that it was a poor decision to have a relatively inexperienced person like Bates (considering his position) handle both roles as OC and QB coach. It leaves the Jets with little options. IMHO the Jets will finish the year with Bowles at the helm no matter what happens record wise. I don't think there is any upside in getting rid of Bowles at this point. If nothing else (even if the owner decides to fire coach) keeping him until the end of the season will "look good" to prospective HC candidates. I don't know if it will have any effect in the off-season should they actually look at replacements.
