Darnold is also a turnover waiting to happen. I cringe every time he drops back, just like I did with Sanchez. And you shouldn’t be calling someone “to” slow or stupid when you don’t even know how to use the correct “too”
Let's say you're right. Darnold is a "turnover waiting to happen". So what's your solution? Bench him? Go back to the drawing board and try to draft another QB? Are you so savvy about football and QBs in particular that you can accurately assess Darnold after 8 games? Who would you have drafted instead? Can you mix a little solution in with your criticism?
I have to disagree about this. He's not fumbling--which was his bigger issue at USC--and his line play and his snaps are causing him to hurry through his progressions (if he can even do that). He's thrown some really crappy passes and a few more should have been picked but one INT last week went right through Peake's hands and the two massive drops killed a drive that could have put us right back in the game. I am not getting a Sanchez vibe AT ALL. At a certain point I thought Mark was going to throw a pick on every throw.
Sanchez comparo's aside, Darnold is getting a bit hectic back there...and I don't blame him. Our receivers suck ass. I still think we should be emphasizing our run game right now. At this point Sam is not ready for primetime. And our receivers suck ass.
In all fairness his comment most likely auto-corrected on his phone. No need to be derisive, especially since he didn't call your own intelligence into question. The only reason I cringe a bit now when Sam Darnold drops back is because the play-calling is for chit, the OL is terrible, Spencer Long sucks (injury or no), the team is destroyed by injuries on both sides of the ball, and I don't want him to get killed. Sanchez would be a crying quivering pile of jelly by now. Sam Darnold is not crying or quivering. He's eating it and being mature about it. Guess you missed that part of the equation. I didn't hate Sanchez. The Jets dogged him a bit with constant personnel changes, but to try to equate Sanchez and Darnold in the natural football smarts department is a little lame.
He’s simply not ready. Should be sitting on the bench this year. McCown should’ve played this year, give Darnold his shot next.
Lol unlikely it was autocorrect. There’s another typo also. Bottom line, you shouldn’t be insulting someone else’s intelligence while making basic grammatical errors yourself. Darnold is antsy every time he drops back. He takes off running and moves out of the pocket even when there is no pressure within miles. He hardly ever just hangs in the pocket. He just looks nervous back there and seems to make a lot of bad decisions and bad throws (mostly high). That’s why I cringe when he drops back.
The problem with criticising someone's grammar is that you then need to spend ages pouring over every post you make to avoid making any yourself.
I'll tell ya.....Darnold is looking extremely rough out there. Yes I know the offense is atrocious, but he looks very inaccurate, looks scared and also lacks velocity at times. I really don't think he's going to be taking a second year leap....like that of Mahomes or Goff. I think it is unfair to put him in that boat....he doesn't have the same makeup of those guys. I think Darnold can be a solid player that can help make some complimentary throws in an offense that features a really strong running game. Matt Hassleback, Trent Dilfer, Trent Green, Marc Bulger come to mind.....
a turnover machine - 2 more today so far and should have been 5 or 6. sorry, it ended up with 4 more today - should have been 7 or 8
Gotta love when defenders pick off passes on 4th down a hundred yards down field and pound their chests.
