I mean, how could you say it was a major fail!?!? We had the incomparable Christian Hackenberg waiting in the wings. He just needed more “seasoning”. .

Mac blows. And this isn’t a knock on Sam. I still believe he’s young, raw and will be very good, but if you give me the choice between Mahomes plus a plethora of picks vs Sam, I’m going Pat and picks all day long. And yes, hindsight is 20/20 but somehow most Jets fans were able to see this as it was all unfolding. Not Mac though...typical Jets.

    I’m with you my brotha!

Wow. How many times are you gonna say that, 800? You were also clamoring non-stop for Bryce Petty 'cause you knew he was a good QB. Maybe you should root for the Chiefs since you know the outcome.
Sam's been in the league 8 weeks and you're staking claims before anything has been accomplished be either of them. In seven years, God willing, you can take credit from the mountain tops when Mahomes accomplishes more than Sam when he actually does

I might say it 800 or a 1000, who knows? Depends on how often people want to defend Macc for blowing it.

And yes, I DID clamor for Petty, not because I thought he was great, but because I thought he might be better than Fitz, and by playing him they would either find out he was or he wasn't, and in any case find out that they needed to draft an actual FQB.

And 8 weeks is certainly enough time to see that Mahomes is the real deal, and also that Sam can reach that level too. In 7 years, maybe Sam will prove to be the better QB, I never claimed that Mahomes will wind up being better than Darnold, only that RIGHT NOW, I'm pretty sure he would do at least as well, if not better.

As for rooting for the Chiefs, I'll pass, although I do enjoy seeing Mahomes live up to what I thought he would be. But I've been a Jets fan probably longer than you've been alive, so I think I'll stick with them for now.

I can and they had better if there's a great LT prospect sitting there. I've been screaming for a topnotch edge rusher since Jon Abraham left, and while it is a huge need, LT is more important. Nothing is more important than keeping Sam healthy and on the field, nothing. If Mac were to draft Bosa instead of a topnotch LT, my days as a Jets fan would not only probably be over, I'd probably root for Bosa to tear up a knee and never play a down for the Jets, and root against the Jets as long as the Johnsons owned the team. I'm sick to death of the Jets' stupidity, with their always having their priorities wrong and making stupid decisions, hires.

Please ignore SGB. He's a moron or a troll or both. He has reading comprehension issues and is one of the most unknowledgeable posters I've ever run across. You're just encouraging him.

If Sam does wind up being better than Mahomes, it won't be by much, and Mahomes plus those 3 second round picks plus whomever the Jets would have taken in the 1st round this year is almost certainly greater than Sam and Adams.

Given our track record with second rounders I'm not so sure.

I have to believe that Macc's job is safe based on the fact that he made zero trades before the deadline. If his job was in jeopardy, I doubt he would sit on his hands with a team without a pass rusher and any viable WRs right now being 3-5.

Not that it necessarily means Bowles job is safe too. In fact, I still think Bowles is a goner unless they make the playoffs. Macc probably wants to hire his own coach at this point.

If Mac can get Bell to bite on the sort of contract that has get-outs and doesn't cripple the cap then he is truly a genius. I can see the other bits happening though for sure.

I'd love to bring bell in at this point. cut crowell, bring back powell cheap if possible but if not run with bell, cannon, and maguire. Beechum isn't bad at all. he's been a solid LT that isn't breaking the bank so he could stick around for another year or 2 until we find a long term solution. it'll be interesting to watch but i feel 2019 is the year the jets need to make a playoff or bowles will be gone and we'll have a new regime in place.

it's still hindsight. people scream for players on forums all the time and are often wrong. if mahomes sucked right now , this wouldn't even be a discussion. If mac didn't love mahomes and not everyone did (some had him as a late 1st rounder at best) and instead loved darnold (he's been tracking darnold for years) it made sense to wait it out a year. would it have been nice to have mahomes and 3 extra 2nd round picks? of course it would have. but i'm also pretty dam happy with darnold and adams too. it's too easy to look back a year or more later and say we could have done this. every single team could have done something better it's not a standard you can hold someone too and NFL Gms play the long game not the short game

If he wanted us to take Mahomes before the pick was in, it's not hindsight.

I think this is pretty accurate....Mac is safe for now - they will allow him to oversee this coming off season. As of now I'd say there's more of a chance Bowles isn't back than is.

    Here, maybe this will help:

    hind·sight
    /ˈhīn(d)ˌsīt/
    noun
    1. understanding of a situation or event only after it has happened or developed.

Since I called for Mahomes to be drafted BEFORE the draft, it is NOT hindsight.

    Get it?

the problem is you were right this time, we only know that because of hindsight. I'm sure you've been wrong before, as have i, as have other people here, as have other GMs. you didn't know you were right until a year later hence hindsight. if mahomes goes out and blows out his knee teddy B style tomorrow it would be a blessing we didn't hinge out future on him and in hindsight you'd be wrong. it doens't matter what you called for before the draft. even a broken clock is right twice a day

it is because it was a guess from a dud eon a forum who happened to be right, however nobody knew he was right at the time, we know this now. people say shit on the forums all the time, sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong we don't know until later on hence hindsight.

    looked back, you failed

    https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/coloradocontrails-mock-draft-1-0.88348/

you picked OJ howard in the 1st and mahomes in the 2nd. if you were the GM we have howard not mahomes and mahomes is gone 2 picks later becuas eyou valued howard over mahomes. see how that works?

Nice try. But that was a "draft game" where I was trying to get the most points, and the rating system used is based on "expert consensus". Had I actually been in Macc's shoes I would have taken Mahomes, and was consistent about that all along, so again, NOT "hindsight".

But it's not hindsight because he wanted Mahomes before the draft. That's foresight.
