Actually, just the opposite. Montgomery was told prior to the kick off if the ball was in the end zone to take a knee.
Remember last season the bitching about Bowles wasting time outs, that was because Morton couldn't get plays called in before the play clock expired. Imagine how that would hinder Darnold's development.
Its a day later and I still think Bowels is a bad coach. I thought after I slept on it I might feel differently but NOPE.
There is zero evidence and I certainly don't support it. I simply said that if the Jets were to fire Bowles, it would only make sense if they wanted to promote Bates. I do not think they will fire Bowles mid season or promote Bates.
Great points, and it's not over yet. Vikings and Bears games were tough loses, but non-conference losses. Season is on the line the next 4 games, we will know a lot about this coaching staff after this coming stretch of games. Hopefully we get some of the guys back and get this offense back on track. I am looking forward to seeing Darnold and this team take on that challenge, there is no issue in the locker room either, they still believe in themselves.
That may be true but there have been some player comments cited that question whether or not they believe in the coaching staff.
What a mess... I say the over under on Bowles kicked to the curb is 4 weeks Hmm..I bet Vegas or London has odds already
I wish but given the incompetence of this organization, he will probably beat the Bills and get a 3 year extension for it
I am so done here if that happens (God forbid) After half a century of waiting , O12 is halfway out the door already Its pretty clear to me the Johnsons only bought the team as one investment in a mega portfolio... Who cares about a championship if value doubles or triples and the $ come rolling in from the sucker fans..sigh
Gotta get a rant out... In many ways this is worse than the dark era of the early 90s. Those teams were terrible but at least losing pissed them off. We have an organization now that is content with losing! I can’t believe it. I was listening to Buffalo sports radio yesterday and they were honoring Thurman Thomas since he was getting his number retired. They had on a bunch of those old pain in ass bills players that used to beat our Jets. They were laughing about how whenever they lost a road game Thomas would grab the microphone on the plane and the whole way back just rip into people for their performance. They said it was horrible but Thomas hated to lose so they respected it. Does anyone think we have anything like that on this team??? Of course not. They lost by 2 touchdowns Sunday, with countless mental errors and the coach said he was proud of their efforts! Jamal Adams dared to express anger after an embarrassing loss to Cleveland and he was scolded for it! Now we have half the roster “injured” with hangnails, because.. why not???? This team is hopeless. It needs to change its entire culture. It’s gonna take years. The Bills recent 20 year playofff drought or whatever is in jeopardy!!!!

Grasping for straws here. Article 1: What kind of coach prepares for a backup QB? Baker didn't kill the Jets per say, but the offense played like crap that's for sure. I don't think this comment is a huge negative to the coaching staff. They absolutely destroyed Taylor as intended, when Baker came in they could not adjust. A different offense was being ran essentially. Article 2: Q's comments make sense, and I think Bates deserves much of the blame, the Jets early in the year were trying things out, but as a new OC, with a rookie QB, I think coming into the season, you have to have certain plays that can get a team in rhythm and dictate the game from there on. Bates and his scripted plays early are were pretty trash. Still much to be desired right now due to injuries so, hopefully they get some healthy bodies and go into the most critical part of the season. So in all end, I think perhaps a small shot at the OC, but I don't smell smoke.
The coach is off the hook for having an insubordinate player take a kickoff in a key spot? Discipline doesn't matter because he told him what to do? Nice double standard. McCarthy has been the head coach of the Packers for 13 years. He has had a HOF QB's for every game he has coached with the exception of a stretch last year when for 11 games he had a typical Jets QB. 3 and 8. He has arguably the most talented QB in the league for years. He has 1 SB and is 10 and 8 in the playoffs. I'm pretty comfortable saying that if you have Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers in their prime and full control and have 1 SB in 13 years, you've underachieved.
The coach can not go out on the field and do the players job. The player was told what to do and made a choice to ignore the coach. The team moved on from the player the following tuesday. So yes, discipline was handed out in the only way acceptable, getting him off the team. You better than this post Biggs.
He wasn't traded because of McCarthy. He was traded because Aaron Rodgers was pissed off about it and went public. Rodgers runs the Packers and McCarthy looks like a tool over this whole situation.
