The odds at his age of my scenario playing out are MUCH higher than they are of your scenario working out.

They have weapons unfortunately they all got injured at the same time. Oh and they cut Pryor who caught two TDs.

More than likely they'll sign Leveon Bell in the offseason. They have to be the favorites right?

For now just wait for the injured players to come back.

Sorry, my bad regarding Burnett. I misread that he had 8 catches on Sunday. What it actually said was that he caught all 4 passes in the week 8 game. I read too fast. Still, Sam and he know each other and have chemistry. The Jets signed Rishard Matthews. He should be ready to play more this week. Even if not, it's only another loss, not the end of the world as some of you are making it seem.

Maybe they couldn’t get open cause it was 3rd and 10 every drive? Coaching staffs scheme their guys open throughout the NFL but we’re running into the line for no gain every 1st and 2nd down.

    No excuse for that gameplan.

So you think it's likely that a guy who has had 90+ reception the last four years straight with 1000+ yards in three of them is going to completely fizzle out the way you describe it the second we trade for him? Come on. You were being dramatic. It's a highly unlikely scenario. Golden Tate is absolutely still productive and will be for a few years.

And in terms of how it helps if he's only here a few years... you give your QB a chance to learn how to play QB in the NFL. You can't do that when you trot dogshit out there. Now I know it's only a few weeks but it's not like Quincy is the picture of perfect health. There's no depth unless Matthews returns to form and Burnett turns into a player.

Meh. Nevermind. I'm well aware losses don't matter. It's not about that.

Kearse doesn't usually drop a bunch of passes. Burnett caught all 4 passes thrown his way in his first game. That's not too bad. Matthews should be able to play more this week. Peake shouldn't be on the team if he can't contribute on offense. Leggett shouldn't be on the team if he can't stay healthy, on the field and contribute. Tomlinson shouldn't be on the team if he can't catch. Cannon can catch the ball, so can Crowell. The Henderson kid supposedly was pretty good in preseason and the Broncos and their fans were pretty high on him. It was just a numbers thing with him there. Is it ideal? No, but for a few games we just have to suck it up and deal with it. Injuries are part of the game. It's not ideal that we have Carpenter at LG. It's not ideal that we have no depth at C so Long could be moved to LG and that backup take over the C position. It's not ideal that we haven't adequately replaced Brick at LT. It's not ideal that it's been what 10-15 years since Jon Abraham left and we still have no quality edge rusher. That's life as a Jets fan. We all ought to turn our backs on this sadsack sorry-ass excuse for a football franchise.

Yes. The skills of players over 30 fairly regularly vanish or significantly diminish overnight. They become more brittle and injury-prone. Learning to play QB is more than throwing passes to open receivers. If having borderline WR talent to throw to for a couple of games derails Sam's NFL career, then he was never a FQB to begin with. With the exception of Randy Moss, and the two small slot WRs that he's thrown a ton of passes to and Gronk, Brady has made a career of throwing to JAG WRs and converted DBs.

Completely disagree. This offense is not talented and Darnold is doing just fine. Let him throw to his USC teammate 15 times a game for the rest of the season. He needs offensive linemen far more than he needs weapons. Star QBs who have time to throw make their own weapons.

    60/40 on the first part.

I got so frustrated in the game thread I said great, F this. Just bomb it at this point. Response: Bomb it to who? Me: My deceased Grandma in Flushing Cemetery. Oh, yes, it's there.

We're not going to build a team properly by trading away picks to acquire 30 year old wide receivers. It sucks seeing them not do anything but in 8 weeks the seasons over and we will eventually get one of those players in free agency and give away any of our draft picks.

Exactly! Look at all the converted DBs and JAG WRs that Brady has had to throw to over the years. Yes, he's had Gronk, had Randy Moss for a cup of coffee, and had Edelman and his predecessor (whose name escapes me at the moment), but he's had a bunch of no name 2nd or 3rd-rate WRs and it hasn't hurt him. I don't recall his ever having a stud RB, either.

I agree on both....a couple of weeks ago I would of said no to Bell. The more I think about it - this offense looks putrid. I know - injuries. But there is still a lack of dependable playmakers......Mac will be back next year but probably with more of an ultimatum to get this thing rolling.....with $100 million in room he can afford to work out a team friendly front loaded deal for Bell where the Jets can get out of it in 2-3 years. It would jolt the fan base and do wonders for Darnold. And he should still have enough money to sign a decent EDGE, and maybe a guard too ( along with the usual depth deals ).

It's sad the season is only half over and this is what we're thinking about.......

Bell is a incredible workhorse but he has baggage a possible suspension with another violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

    But

With Powell's career in doubt after his injury and Crowell a risk to Darnold's health with his lackluster blocking they probably will take the risk.

I'd be OK with Marshall. He's virtually no risk. They wouldnt have to pay him much at all, and it would just be for the rest of the year, meaning he cant be a locker room pain in the ass next year.

This team is clearly in no mans land of not tanking, and also not actively improving the squad. Definitely not against bringing in anyone who can catch

    I'd rather have Dez honestly.

  20. This is where i draw the line w the OL trumps all talk.Give a quality OC 5 average OL,A franchise QB & quality skill you can win alot of games & contend. Now the same maybe true of the opposite but thats kind of the point. At the end of the day its about balance.

Doesnt matter how good the QB and blocking are if the skill guys cant get open/get to the right spot/catch.and weve seen that this season quite a bit.The OL has been far from perfect but id take their performance to date over the Wrs/TE without hesitation.

Im far more comfortable & confdent in the jets ability to upgrade the OL & even edge than I am the skills. Right now the jets have a bunch of wrs who cant stay healthy, cant get open & cant catch.Hows that not as much of a problem as the pass pro or pass rush??
