Agreed. If Mac were smart he'd be kissing ass to CJ telling him his vision for the future and bright head coach candidates that could "serve under Bowles"
The difference between the Browns and the Jets was that no one was listening to Hue, not Todd not anyone. Fans really want the Jets to be like the Browns?
Mac needs to focus on drafting actual good players, especially after the obvious first rounders. Depth of the team has suffered because of the awful picks that were made.
Very interesting factoid: Jackson is the 6th straight Browns coach to be fired immediately after losing the second Steelers game of the season. I would think that at least part of this is that they don't want to risk hurting Mayfield (hence the firing of Haley too). To answer those who ask what benefit could there be from firing Bowles now (or in a week, at the bye), it could be a similar concern about Darnold. I'm not saying it would be true, but the same motivation would apply.
That's not the only part of a GM's job though is it... You describe the watered down Jets version of what a GM should be doing. A General Manager should be doing exactly that. Managing the team from a strategic pov while the HC Coaches the team. GM's have more to do than just manage the draft. At least in well run franchises.
Mac has yet to hit a HR with any of the draft picks though Darnold could be the one in a few years. Mac is batting like .275/.280 at the moment with his picks imo. However give him bigger credit for clearing up $ and potentially getting better and impact players next off season.
Still injured. Hang nail I think. Maybe the dreaded bone spurs...mastitis maybe? Maybe the avian flu, not sure
yeah... which tells me Macc wasn't qualified to be a GM in the first place. It was a come up for Macc, but an ill advised move by Woody and a really bad recommendation from Casserly. Again, our Ownership while having good intentions, really hasn't done us any favors since they bought the team. Little Woody has too much fan in him and not enough owner so I'm not expected a lot of help from either of them. As long as the Johnson are making strategic decisions, the Jets will remain in the shitter.
If ownership wants to make a change, then it's in best interest to hit the reset button. Reggie McKenzie might be on his way out of Oakland and he did create a solid foundation before Gruden traded it all away. Have to wonder if Woody will allow Chris to find the next GM and do things his way.
Half the season is done, Bowles biggest mistake might have been firing Morton. It could lead to his firing, Bates might be in over his head, I don't know. The receivers just seemed to play better when Morton was calling plays. I think Bowles made a huge mistake.
There had to be a learning curve with Bates too. I think he's made some mistakes, especially his gadget plays and when he called them. Everything around Sam seems to be positive even tho the roster has been a clusterfuck. We'll see. It's not over yet. The outside noise doesn't mean anything yet either. It's about Sam more than anything else.
Just heard the same sh^t from that other loser Vance Joseph on NFL radio..they all have that line covered..hehehe
Bates? That's like two steps forward, three steps back. What evidence is there that Jeremy Bates has made even the slightest positive impact on the Jets in his tenure as QB coach or OC?
