The Steelers have released Duce Staley. He has been inactive since Week 1. I say release Barlow and pickup Staley. If the Jets aren't willing to give Houston the full time role I say Staley is worth a look. And we can definitly get him for cheap.

    Thoughts?

sure we're fine...but i have been far from impressed with our running game. Now that the playoffs seem like a strong possibility, we need to find a way to establish the run...if the jets are willing to give the job to houston then forget it...but if mangini wants to go with a rotation why not bring in duce and give him a shot??? you'll be suprised what a guy with a second chance can do...and duce has talent...i just dont see what we have to lose

I feel like every time someone is dropped we should pick him up.. there is a reason he hasn't really played in 2 years

Barlow is a slightly faster, slightly more power, MUCH YOUNGER, Staley.

Duce has talent? Maybe five years ago - he's old and broken down. We might as well just reactivate Barlow.

Duce Staley would be a total waste to sign.... I doubt any team signs him.

If the Steelers released them with the running backs they have... we definitely dont need him with the depth and variety we already have.

Barlow has three years left on on contract with base salaries ranging in the 2-3 million per year area, however none of which is guaranteed. So, since the 49ers took the salary cap hit for his signing bonus, there would be little if any salary cap ramifications for the jets. Unfortunately, they gave up a 4th round pick for this bum, so they probably would keep him around for at least one more season. As far as the 4th round pick goes, tannenbaum can recover this on draft day by trading down on one of their second round picks. Remember the jets own the redskins 2nd round pick by virtue of their trade on draft day last year. This could be a top 40 pick if the redskins continue to flounder.

Reasons why the Jets will never even call him...
    1- Was never that great
2- He is very washed up and injury prone
    3- Old
4- We already have Cedric Houston, Leon Washington and Barlow.

    Not really a great idea.

We only pick him up if we intend to add additional flavor to 17a's Monday Morning Duece Thread.
