Just heard the post game presser on my way to work and i almost spit my coffee out from laughing. “I’m proud of the way the team came together and fought today!” Are you kidding??? HAHAHAH
Which vies with Hue Jackson's not remembering why he didn't use timeouts yesterday as the dopiest coachspeak of the season.
What a disaster. We screamed for so long for an identity/prototype & maybe we shouldve been careful what we wished for.Heard all season from Bowles, his assistants & players that they want to run the ball & stop the run in hopes of making teams one dimensional. Im not sure whats worse..how flawed, outdated & idiotic having that philosophy is in 2018 or that the team still cant run the ball OR stop the run? Does that mean should this regime carry on that we’ll be looking forward to more run oriented personnel moves rather than fixing a passing game 10+ years in the making? This team needs a whole new outlook.Scoring points & the passing game;both sides of the ball need a complete makeover along w the team’s overriding formula for winning. This is loser football
What was that old saying: "If you find yourself stuck in a hole, stop digging..." Definitely applies here..
It’s this kind of stuff that shows you the man believes that his job is absolutely secure. Or, that he just doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing. Either is a recipe for failure.
At Miami, home Buffalo. It kills me but I hope the Jets lose. Then we might actually see a coaching change in the bye week and that would be the best thing for this franchise
The problem with Bowles is that he makes the same mistakes over and over again. Punting late in the 4th down 2 scores is one of them.
It was debatable as to as to whether Hue Jackson or Todd Bowles is the worst head coach in the NFL. The debate is over. Hue was just fired. Todd Bowles is now officially the worst head coach in the NFL.
Ha. However much I want Bowles gone, I don't see the point in firing before the season ends unless they plan on making Bates the HC.
Agreed. Outside of misconduct or some sort of brain fart of epic proportions that costs a game (versus the regular ones we are used to regarding clock management, not having plays or defenses ready coming out of a break/timeout, punting down two scores with five minutes remaining, etc.) or the health of a key player, he should coach the remainder of the season. As you said, I can't see any changes coming barring a mid-late season decision by the "brain trust" that Bowles will not be back, and a desire to give Bates a tryout as head coach.
Honest question: Do you think Bowles will do anything between now and the end of the season to "redeem" himself? If not, why not fire him now and send a message to the players that they had better show they're worth retaining or they won't be back either? And of course they can begin the search for a new HC now instead of two months from now.
Me either, but for those who say let him finish the season, I think they need to answer that question.
He cannot redeem himself in my mind, I didn't want him back this year. Firing him during the season accomplishes nothing and it won't give us a head start on replacing him. They should always be looking at coaches. They aren't going to hire anyone until after the season as I'm sure there are several coordinators they want to interview. You can't do that until the season is over. I do not think firing a head coach sends a message to the players that their jobs are on the line. Half the team is a free agent at the end of the year anyway, they already know that!
I just saw that... Not sure if it was Dorsey or Ownership that pulled the trigger but I'm seeing Cleveland making all the right decisions and the Jets stagnating. They used to call it Paralysis by Analysis.
The little I saw said that the Owner wanted to keep Hue (this was before they were both fired). I'm guessing they got together, both said they didn't like one of them, and decided it was best to get rid of both.
