Literal trash as weapons and he(Darnold) has looked like a possible FQB(I am jaded from years so I keep my excitement low)

Lets not kid ourselves he has 0 weapons. And with all the injuries he has negative weapons. I believe in the kid do I believe in the team.

    Simply, NO

This loss was an all-around failure for the Jets, who managed to look bad in nearly every facet of the game. Their quarterback completed less than 50 percent of his passes (14 of 29), no one rushed for more than 25 yards and the Bears steamrolled New York's defense for 179 rushing yards. Even their punter struggled with four of his eight punts going for 40 yards or less.

I don't want to here anymore talk about what a great offensive mind Bates is... if he's the smartest mind we've got we're totally screwed.

Some of you are so dramatic. This was never a playoff, or good team at that. We all knew that. A couple of wins and everyone forgot, we an average to below average team. Good news is, we're not the worst team in the league. So we have plenty to build on. Coaching is an issue as well as talent. This team needs actual playmakers on offense. Right now, they just don't have it. Get a pass rusher and this is a better team. We knew this was a rebuild.

Such a delusional fan base, people really expected Darnold to tear up the league on his first year, anybody looking at this team prior to the start of the season knew we weren't winning many games

its not losing its how you lose that matters when you are in a rebuild mould - its the absence of building blocks that is the concern for me - aside from Darnold (and maybe Adams) we have nothing to build around.

My expectation the beginning of this campaign was 3WINS..go look back guys ..many posters felt it would be 7 or
    8 lol

I felt LATER well maybe if we are super lucky..5 or 6 With SD Showing some flashes DESPITE fighting opponent s AND sh@tty coaching and game management...

THE COACHING AND GAME MANAGEMENT Is terrible ..and the whole League knows it..if YOU dont see it ..you are blind

There are a small contingent of fans posting here about "just wait till next year with more weapons an OL and an Edge Rusher etc.." well THATS delusional because NOTHING is guaranteed how this GM picks players and FA especially with a loser like Bowles in his ear

Look at what happened over the LARGER SAMPLE of 3 years with this management ..WHY DOES ANYONE THINK IT WILL CHANGE??

    PREDICTION :

Continued poor management discourages SD ...and we also have MORE losses..sorry but even BUF and Miami are NOT gimmes

BOWLES IS FIRED AND MAYBE MAC...before seasons end or definitely by it..We go the way of Chicago and LA and get young innovative OFFENSIVE minded CS and creative GM

IF NOT: MOST fans abandon this team , throw up in mouth etc and say TO HELL WITH THE JOHNSONS

I hate to say it but I was legitimately bored watching yesterday's game. There's nothing exciting to our play and versus other teams, it doesn't even look like we're playing football. And of course I know we had injuries to some of our more talented players, but when Bowles says he's happy the team stuck together, to me it means he has absolutely nothing to hang his hat on.

So we agree...we need a reset

So impatient.. Macc has only been drafting now for 4 years..Everybody knows it takes 10-20 years to build a winner at the minimum. Macc and Bowles simply need more time..

I've watched every Jets game since 2012. However, my passion for this team is wearing thin. This team is so boring that i fell asleep during the Chicago game and missed our only touchdown.

Overall, I'm annoyed that we are always seem to be a team that is "rebuilding".

We can be patient with our QB - but the key positions around him need to be win-now players. The salary cap and the supply-and-demand forces of the FA will never allow for a team to rebuild in all key positions.

We need to taking some risks now with veterans, trades, and FA - with a focus on winning a super bowl next year or the following.

But that will never happen with this current management.

As it stands right now I would be shocked to see any big changes to the front office and coaching staff. This was sold as a 2 year project and I think right now they still feel they are on schedule.
Going to be a long 1 1/2 years listening to the bitching

I'm not saying bowels is great, but right now, who do you think is going to come in here and take over for the CS and front office? Ok you get rid of Bates and then bring in another new OC? Then TB gets fired the next year? What's the point? Right now I think the idea is unless there's is someone available that you really feel is better, there is no change being made. And that's not a bad thing, it makes the job more appealing because it shows that the owner is willing to be patient and makes the job more attractive. We all know it's the next coach that will bring this team to the forefront so why make rash decisions that scare candidates away?

I have absolutely no problem with most of your post here but you know you're kidding with your last sentence, regardless of how much upper case you use.

I was given mucho crap last year when I looked for Bowles to be bounced during the bye week, even as a long shot - what happens this year if the record is 3 - 7 hitting the bye?

It looked like that last year and he got a contract extension.

This year, with a rookie QB, Bowles has a much better built in excuse for the 5-11 hat trick. If he’s fired this year it simply reflects how clueless ownership and management truly is, and bad ownership and management will never succeed because they simply don’t know how to make good decisions. Firing Bowles doesn’t solve that problem.

There’s a reason why we see continuous success by certain teams in all sports — in the end they are well run organizations. And there is a reason teams who can’t even find middling success consistently fail to do so — bad ownership and management. That’s what the Jets are, and giving Bowles an extension was 100% proof of that.

How the he’ll could they have realistically expected better than 5-11 after his last two seasons and then fire him for not meeting their asinine expectations that Bowles was somehow capable to more?

Do you expect anything to change in the manner of coaching in the next few weeks? I don't. I expect little or nothing to change in the standings. The season is shot; developing Darnold and a handful of others is the only positive thing that can come this year. The guys onboard are not equipped to handle the challenge.

This would not be the only NFL team that ever blew out a Head Coach and some of his staff midseason. Yeah, an interim head man would need to be appointed, and probably from the outside because there appears to be no cream to this crop of crappy coaches. An interim coach doesn't even need to be better than the incumbent; he just needs to be different with a different mindset and approach.

I don't see that as scaring anyone away who we would want as a coach come the off season. I want the coach who can look at the developments and say "for once it's not the same old Jets - they're serious about making some big changes and I'm the guy to do that!" Who is that guy? I don't know, but I know he's out there.

I got a lot of crap last year, not even for slamming Bates but for questioning his credentials. Welcome aboard.
