Yep, with the injuries and the lack of depth provided us by our GM of the year, we're primed to make yet another run into the top 10 blue chip draft. We have $100m in our war chest and at least for now, our 1st round dp.

Pray that trader Mike doesn't do something stupid like trading what draft capital we have left for some one year over 30 quick fix or sign more FA's that fail to perform once they don Jet green.

With our new CEO lowering the bar so low that an ant would need a ladder to get over it, we really shouldn't count on much help from ownership as they're happy with being simply "competitive".

2018 is over. No post season is in the cards. With all our "stars" on the mend, there's not much Sam can do except stay healthy. That means Bates will have to keep the ball on the ground for these last 8 games.

Start McCown? I dunno if that helps. Rush anyone back from the IR? To what end serving what purpose?

Todd in all likelyhood will go 5-11 or worse this year but the odds of his getting fired are slim. Macc will get to draft and spend cash again..For better or most likely worse.

Oh well, nothing new here to see. Move along..

At the risk of being more despondent, I think the large amount of cap space is a bit of a red herring. We have a lot of players out of contract next season, many of them banged up, that we’ll either need to extend and take a risk on their health or replace with more expensive FAs.

It would be good if some capologist could start a thread that shows who needs replacing and how much we’ll need to spend to replace. I’m not sure we are as rich as we think.

Christopher Johnson said he had so much fun watching the Jets go 4-12 last season. Since the Jets are on a statistical pace to be 6-10 this season, he must be wetting his pants with this wet dream of a team.

There's really no one on this team that can't be replaced with a better player through FA.

Yep, season ended, and it may sound bad, but all I'm looking for is Darnold progressing every week and still losing to secure a high pick. My mind is on 2019, and what changes need to be made to secure progress going forward. If Bowles goes, I think Macc should go as well. Sure he brought Darnold in, but he hasn't done that great. We need a fresh start and we cannot afford to put Darnold in a position of failure. Whoever coaches this team needs to be o-minded and whoever is evaluating talent and giving contracts needs to be of the mindset that Darnold is the face of this team and we need to surround Sam with talent. I think Darnold and 100+ in cap is very attractive. Another pick within the top 10 is even moreso enticing, but it all depends on how willing Chris Johnson is to blow the thing up.

If the Jets season is over, and they decided to start McCown instead of allowing Sam to gain experience and learn, I probably would lose my mind. :D:confused:

Im actually somewhat glad theyre not "fooling" anyone with some worthless wins at this stage.... All these injuries just add to it

This team is still a work in progress and if anyone thought otherwise well.... I suggest more beer

Sure, but we’ll chew through cap space signing slightly-better-than-JAGs.

This is a bit over dramatic.
One the playoffs weren’t a real possibility at any point . Not sure why anyone thought it should be . Nothing in the roster screams playoff bound.
Now, saying that, there are 2 very winnable games coming up that could get us to 5-5 and our name in the “in the hunt” block of the playoff chase visual during the broadcast.
Of course we could split those or worse and if that’s the case, we still go in to next season with a top 10ish pick and no need for a qb. It can not be understated how big that is. That’s what separates this season from the usual, unexpected bad seasons.( are there any really unexpected bad jet seasons?)
So yea. It hasn’t been good but it’s not in vain. There are good things happening inside the bad. Those things are going to be what changes the course of this team.

When the HC starts bringing up the team staying together while their getting their asses handed to them as a positive, the end is near.

Postseason was never realistically in the cards.

The goal of this season was to replicate the 2016 Eagles, who went 7-9 and got tons of great experience for Wentz. We can still do that easily.

As long as we can address our biggest holes in the offseason, I'd be ok with that.

Did people really think they were gonna win this game under the circumstances to be so disappointed?

I'm watching Rodgers... and it makes me hopeful and still happy with Sam. Sam has talent, and he has a really good makeup to his character.

They win the next two and it all changes.

    Never say die!

heres what the guys are saying in the post game " when plan A does not work the coaches have no plan B " that says it all. How can these coaches put their players in the best position to succeed when they don't have a clue ? It is no secret that I have become a dark sider and I am fed up but if any of you think that this was not a winnable game today against the Bears you are nuts . As bad as we looked most of this game we were in it and the coaches had NO answers on either side of the ball or special teams. BTW does anyone here trust MAC with all that cap money come Springtime because I do not ! This team has so many holes and that IS ALL ON Mac !!!! 3-5 yuck

Mostly agree, although I'd hate to see them start McCown. The best possible outcome this year is that Darnold and some of the other young players get valuable experience while avoiding injury. I thought it was possible they could win 8 games before all the injuries, now its looking more like 5.

I was just thinking the same thing . I’d like to see a thread of potential FAs the Jets can go after and a CAP estimation in relation to that.
