My childhood friend, my dear friend, my best friend. He committed suicide yesterday with his own gun. Landed in Turkey but missed the funeral. In Islam dead people ara supposed to be buried within 24 hours. This sucks. My heart is heavy. Not looking for sympathy or anything but just wanted to share.
Sorry for your loss Brook. As you know, I've recently dealt with a death of a person close to me. Question: In Christianity, I believe if a person commits suicide, they cannot go to heaven. Is there something similar in Islam as in a punishment for taking one's own life? I'm curious..
Thanks all. 4 hour drive from Istanbul. Still ob my way to his grave. For me Turkey meant him. His name is Serkan Cecener. If you google, a lot of Turkish news outlet anouncing his suicide. Same grandpa. If you commit suicide no heaven.
Brook I am so sorry. Prayers for your friend. Last year ,Xmas week , I received a call that a good friend was gone , somewhat similar situation. The call came from my friends cell phone so I thought it was him calling me it was his wife ( who he was on bad terms with ) telling me he was gone and that the service had already taken place ,,,,,,I feel for you Brook
I lost my wife to suicide that was alcohol/addiction based three years ago. You never get over it. I tell people that her pain didn't go away, it just spread out to all those who loved her and we all carry a small portion of it for the rest of our lives. The worst thing for me is she had tried it several times before and I always somehow knew that the phone call we just had was her saying goodbye and was able to send her help, but the last time I missed the signs. While I know its not my fault its something that I carry with me and always will. Take care Brook, hug your loved ones. The one gift I've received from all this is greater appreciation of my time and my loved ones. You never truly know when the last time you will see someone is so it makes you treasure every moment even more.
Thanks guys. It means a lot. I was at scene today. His car had his blood and his window shattered due to shot. I was at his grave. Cried over the grave. The pain will never go away. I last talked to him 1 week ago and I wish I knew that was my last call.
So sorry buddy. A childhood friend killed himself. It was baffling to everyone because he just found out he made the Olympic winter team for USA.
