Yes Home that is my philosophy...look at the best companies in the world ?.Gates Jobs W. Buffet...IT ALL STarts WITH MANAGEMENT

The Jets have Trust Fund dummies for Owners and have had a chorus line of Bad coaches with varying degrees of talent on the team RESULT? BAD PRODUCT ...losing Seasons etc...FIFTY YEARS NO SB

I apologize for my sarcasm to you and the rest of my fellow posters who are young , Millenials and Gen X ers but I am just an ANGRY old fan ...who is losing his hair like SOJAZ ahahaha

You are welcome to disagree...but just having great talent without structure (like TB and his bad Coaching) will crash the Cadillac

They were 5-11 the year before.
And so the players get credit for the wins and the coach gets credit for the losses? No wonder no one takes you seriously

There is a difference between banged up and missing almost your entire secondary. The defense held strong through almost 3 quarters with little to no support from the O. This loss was a team in bad shape getting beat by a better roster. Seeing that people always need someone to blame, I'd put this game more on Mac than Bowles if I had to call someone out. In reality it was just a rebuilding team coming up against a Superbowl contender. I'm honestly surprised that we are 3-4 to this point. We have showed some promise on both sides of the ball this year, things will only get better as Sam progresses and if Mac fixes the Oline.

    My Coaching grades by week:
    WK1: A
    WK2: C-
    WK3: F
    WK4: D
    WK5: B+
    WK6: B
    WK7: C

I thought the defense played very well on Sunday, but this grade is more indicative on the penalties and the horrible game-plan by Bates, some mishandled clock management here and there as well (no different then the majority of the coaches). Yes, the Vikings took away the middle of the field, but perhaps they could have involved Leggett and Kearse more and found better ways to get them the football. Jets were outmanned, the game at one point was very much winnable. But execution, poor lack of execution by the players and lack of adjustments by the CS buried the Jets on Sunday.

Just to expand my part a little further. Jets are middle of the pack in both penalties and penalty yards. Thats better than both the McCarthy led Packers and the Tomlin led Steelers. That must be a testament to decent coaching, correct?

Jets are tied for second in the NFL in fumbles and third in INTs. If you want to blame the coaches on that, I suppose you can make that argument. But that seems silly to me. Maybe I'm just more of a personal responsibility guy, but I'm blaming fumbles/INTs on the player every time (QB or WR). Are we blaming WR drops on the coach as well? Because that did the Jets in on Sunday IMO.

Jets are 9th in points scored and 20th in points against. Again, middle of the pack, overall.

I don't want to get into the argument of "getting guys ready to play" thing. It is almost impossible to quantify, and it comes back to the "losses=bad coaching" and "wins= good coaching". Personally, I thought the team came out ready to play Sunday. They had their chances, and lost to a better team.

This whole rant is not in any way saying Bowles is some great coach who has had bad luck. If Bowles was fired tomorrow, I wouldnt lose any sleep whatsoever (as long as Mac goes with him). He plays too conservative for me, and has made some terrible time management penalties. These are fireable offenses, especially in year 4.

My point here is that the Jets are a below average-average team. Is some of it on coaching? Of course. But I'm chalking most of it up to a lack of talent and lack of experience.

If I get your point right, you're putting more blame on the players than the coaching? But who selects the players to play? Who creates the schemes to maximize their strengths and minimize their shortcomings? Who is in charge of making adjustments - including clock mamangement, challenge flags, when to go for it, etc." These are all game-impacting issues and Bowles has fallen short his entire time time here. But by putting more blame on the players, you give support to the idea that Bowles isn't really so bad, so why not just stick with him? Bottom line: Maybe he isn't the whole problem, but he's a damn big slice of it, and the longer he remains the longer the problem remains.

I want the best candidate that played a part in developing Mahomes.

Sure, just give the Chiefs like 5 first rounders for Andy Reid. While you are at it, try and pry away Kelce and Tyreek Hill too.

I guess you're right to look at it that way but three penalties for thirty five yards in the first 98 seconds of a game does tend to skew one's mindset.

I wasn’t expecting playoffs but expected this team to be competive. I am at least happy Darnold is playing and is not turning out to be Bills’ Petersen. Yea Darnold has had some good moments and not so good moments. Part of the growing pains. This I can live with and hope he stays healthy. He is solid. Not great but not bad. I see good things and part of it is from McCown, Bates and Bowles.

Doesn’t seem like a bad idea, Reid, Kelce & Tyreek would be upgrades.

It seems to me that about 40-50 per cent of this board is content with mediocrity...so be it

When the losses accumulate against "winnable" games like Miami and Buffalo watch how the homers abandon the Toilet Bowles bandwagon

Not me...if I could I fire his ass now. He is not a good HC period and I am tired of his poor game management and team that at times looks like a circus act.

    11-5
    5-11

Is this a good head coach material? Let me know what you think.

Absolutely. Don't remember any players being blamed for losses under Rex, Mangini, Walton, Coslet.

I agree they have so so talent. Macc slipped on a lot of talent in the drafts. I think they waited too long to address the QB position. They should have been taking a QB every year. I jumped off the Macc train when he took back to back safeties when they had needs along the OL, OLB.

Not in my book...one winning season.
Well if I am not mistaken BB got fired didn't he? And if your going to compare try comparing how his team played then vs how the JETS play now. Browns played discipline ball but lost …. there in lies the difference between BB and TB.

Sometimes I just can't believe the absolute audacity of some posters to confuse team results AND personality

There is not a snowballs chance in h*ll that Todd Bowles has a remote semblance today in philosophy character football knowledge game planning game management to a great hall of fame coach who unfortunately wanted to work for Kraft and not Hess and the Johnsons

    Ya gotta be kidding...

If BB were here he would blow it up a la Gruden..replace all the slugs with better players and draft as well if not better than Mac

Most important ,,,he would get the MOST out of each players regardless of talent/ability and he would never put up with the ANTICS week in and out

    How about this?

    0-11-1
    4-9-1
    5-8-1
    4-10
    5-8-1

P.S. Do you think Browns fans back then would agree with you?

What's the point of this? That because two Hall of Fame coaches started off with poor records that means that no coach can ever be fired? Because that seems to be what you're saying. When exactly is a lack of performance enough to say enough? How about showing the career records of all of the coaches who had a .418 or lower winning percentage in their first 55 games coaching? Somehow I doubt that that will suggest that many of them are diamonds in the rough who only need more time. And don't forget not to include Belichick, since his winning percentage was actually .479 over his first 55 games.

And by the way, the Cowboys were an expansion team when Landry was hired, so the fact that they had poor records their first seasons is very different from a team that had been in the playoffs 7 of the 17 years and .500 or better in 13 of the 18 years before the coach was hired. The Jets weren't very good in 2011-2014, but they sure as hell weren't 1960s era expansion team bad.
