Mac isn’t done—Jets met with Brice Butler today, just cut by Dallas after trading for Cooper. https://www.google.com/amp/s/profoo.../brice-butler-visits-receiver-needy-jets/amp/
Looks like a tall red zone threat type. Pryor-esque. Though I'd rather just you know...re sign Terrelle Pryor
Rishard will make for a good #2. Robby is a good #2. Kearse is a good #2. Enunwa is a good #2 and has #1 potential, but he's injured. Jets have a ton of good #2 options. See the theme? We need our star WR for Darnold..at the very least someone to give us a year or two of #1 WR play like 2015 Brandon Marshall. I don't even care if it's not longterm...we need a guy to hold us over until we have the draft capital or future high pick to get a stud.
Do you want him to splash out the cash on a season that is already fucked? Unless a talent comes on the radar that will be excellent for a long time then I am happy with this bits and pieces approach, short term easily got out of contracts to leaves us with a strong cap into next season and with the way things are going we are going to end up with a middle draft pick anyway so will probably need a lot of cap to pick up some damned ballplayers. 7 teams with a worse record than us and another 4 or 5 with either a 3-3 or 3-4 record as well
But is the season fucked? It seems that by record we are right in the thick of the wildcard with multiple teams all within 2 games of each other. That includes the 2-5 Colts as well as the 4-3 Dolphins. There is a lot of season left and Mac probably sees a hugely successful homestand, and a developing QB, a competing D, but injuries piling up. Some vets can step up like Kearse, Mathews, Crowell. And Youth can step in - they were drafted to play football. Nickerson, Cannon, Herndon.
Yes this season is fucked it was fucked once we won those two game in a row, those wins gave false hope that they could do something and somehow erased the jags performance from peoples memories, This team needs so much talent still and really there would be nothing worse than lucking into a wild card spot and then losing anyway, this will make us have a very poor draft position at a time when we are nearly making a good job of rebuilding the team. I cheers us on to win every week but really we are cutting our own throats for the long term good of these rebuilding plans, not really supporting a flat out tank but finishing 8-8 is a dream killer.
Agree that we need a star WR but if there isn't one to be had then there isn't one to be had. Until then, having a group of WRs as a whole that could perform is good. Every one of our receivers right now can perform, it just looked terrible against the Vikings because Q was out and we had Andre Roberts, Peake, and Burnett on the field.
Yes, it pretty much is. With all the injuries the Jets have sustained to key players, the chances of their making the playoffs are slim and none. We also don't have the CS to do anything in the playoffs even if we were to make it. This season wasn't about making the playoffs anyway. It was about developing Sam and the other young players. So expending what little draft capital we have in a futile attempt to make the playoffs this year would be beyond dumb imo. Even more important than any of the above is that we need to keep Sam upright and healthy, our OL needs a major overhaul, and there won't be much in FA that Mac can sign to make any real improvement. Thus, we need every draft pick that we can get to try to improve/upgrade the OL. WR is going to have to take a backseat. There could be several good edge rushers available in FA. That is the best route to upgrading our pass rush AND protecting Sam. Conversely, it won't make any difference how good our pass rush is or how good our receiving corps is, if Sam is injured and not playing, is shell shocked from taking a pounding, or doesn't have time to look for 2nd or 3rd reads.
apples and organes lol i don't even know why i try with some of you guys. I know your trying to be funny but i'd prefer if you tried to make a valid point instead. i never said anderson was as good as moss, but sure put words in my mouth to make yourself look funny
You said Anderson is better than Juju, Thomas, and Edelman. That's just not true. All 3 would be threats in the middle for the Jets, something Anderson isn't.
