He's a good receiver, not taking that away from the guy. He has potential to go the distance, we've seen what he can do. If he's going to take it to the next level, he needs to get in space where he has no one in front of him. You'll hardly ever see him free by the hashes, and that's where he needs to be to break more big plays. That was something I was hoping Pryor would do more of, but he limpdicked his routes right out of Florham Park. I haven't seen them give Anderson those same routes, and that could be because Bates is playing to his strength. Where I do agree, using Anderson to consistently stretch the field gives the other wideouts more room to make catches. So that alone makes him very valuable, and people overlook that (much like a DT eating up blockers and not getting stats). Sadly, the other wideouts right now are marginal receivers that aren't creating a bunch of space. The multiple receivers sets they ran on Sunday were pathetic. The Vikings took away Kearse, the other guys couldn't catch a cold and Darnold looked like a rookie. The addition of Matthews should help eventually, but until then the TEs need to take advantage of that space he's creating (Side note-Tomlinson needs to go, Herndon/Leggett/Sterling should be the only TEs running routes). Hopefully with more play, him and Darnold will get their timing down better. Some of those TDs he had this year were amazing plays, but they were all the same play. For a guy with 4.3 speed, he utilizes a lot of double moves to smoke the corner covering him and the timing isn't perfect with Darnold. Personally, I don't think they are running him on crosses or screens because they can't afford to have him banged up. Sorry for the lengthy post, i just got back from the gym and the post workout shake got me fired up
Thanks! The only LaFleur I could think of was the famous hockey player Guy LaFleur, and I thought he had switched to talking about ice hockey. LOL
I don't think he's trolling. I just think he's delusional and thinks he knows so much, when in reality he knows little about the game.
That is one thing Darnold needs to improve. I get that Rhodes came out and the Jets were targeting Vikings’ #24. Darnold looks that way for nearly the entire time.
Any time someone resorts to telling other people they are inferior, like saying "you just look at stats, you're dumb", it's a dead give away that you are the dumb one.
Or tell you to "watch the games". Like most of you spending time on this board for this godforsaken franchise, I'm actually not a football fan, I just pick up the paper on Monday morn and look at the stats.
very well said. i do see anderson open all over the field though but as you said his job is to run the route for the play he's told to and get open and he does it consistently. Its on bates to decide the routes though and when you have elite speed like robbie and nobody else on our team does he gets type casted but yes it opens things up for the other WRs over the middle cause robbie almost always takes a safety deep with him as well. Just the fact that defenses are actively rolling coverage his way and playing off him shows how deadly DC's think anderson is. and for all the "stick" comments we get, teams are afriad to jam him so that must say somehting as well. where a guy like cooper who the cowboys just traded a 1st to get, has been getting jammed for over a year now and can't beat the jam nor run the full route tree. let that sink in for a minute. without enunwa our WRs are pedestrian and yeah pryor did look either lazy or injured. I'd like to give him the benefit though and think his groin has been bothering him all year and he's coming off multiple injuries so maybe he looks sluggish just because he's too beat up and that's why the jets released him. but outside of that we have 2 rookie TEs (leggett is basically a rookie since he was injured his rookie season) and 2 subpar TEs, kearse who is a good WR3 but not really a starting WR in the NFL, 2 guys who are basically WR in name only but really just special teamers (peake and roberts) and tay who was just called up from the PS and only has a job becuase he was darnolds favorite target in college.
he didn't in college and still rarely is. he's been awful outside of the game against us and even then it was 1 read wide open WRs mayfield's o-line was graded tops in pass protection so far on the season by ESPN and his completion % is ranked 30th in the NFL what happened to that super accurate 80% completion QB in college lol
We/the rest of the board is calling you inferior because you are making points that aren't based off fact, logic or just using your brain in general. You're telling us to ignore the actual, hard evidence (stats) and pay attention to your opinion that Robby and Randy Moss are one in the same. I mean, you show any football fan this thread and I think there'd be a clear cut side to choose. It ain't the one that compares Robby Anderson to one of the all-time greatest, record-setting receivers.
I'm sorry man, but comparing Robby Anderson to Randy Moss is laughable. One was an all around great WR, the other is a great deep ball threat but not much else because of his thin build.
He is making NFL throws in every single game, some perfect throws into tight windows. I watch his games. Watch him play, don’t just look at and rely on stats. Wait, where did I hear that before.
stats are mostly meaningless i mean not 100% meaningless but whats the difference in a 900 yard WR and a 1000 yard WR? lots of stats can get inflated due to volume and the teams they play on and some can get screwed on it. Only QB stats have meaning really. revis had one of the bets seasons on a CB in the NFL but had 0 picks and very few tackles. stats don't tell the whole story. a guy like evans puts up huge numbers but also leads the league in drops and had the lowest catch rate of any WR. stats are good for fantasy football but not reality. if darnold throws a ball 2 feet shorter last sunday anderson is over 100 yards and another TD on the day. sadly most jet fans don't pay attention and watch the game drunk probably at bars and then look at stats and take them as gospel. that's not studying the game or even enough for a good opinion. Also you completely misunderstood my moss comparison but i explained it down below again I never said he was as good as randy, i said randy had the same complaints about him. being too thin and being a 1 trick pony. he's obviously not as good as moss but he's like a low budget moss
Why do you feel its necessary to shit on fellow Jet fans? You're trolling should be enough. 1 trick pony? I guess that's why Randy was a first round draft pick and Robby didn't get a sniff in 7 rounds. Did you even watch Moss at Marshall?
Hey Sam- when you watch games at bars, how drunk do you get watching Jet games? So drunk you don't understand what you're watching and have to base your opinions on stats the next day? Asking for a friend.
