Cousins looked like crap until the defense started getting tired. The weather conditions were tough yesterday, I doubt Darnold has played all that many games in weather like that.
Game is still too fast sometimes for Darnold, needs to go through his progressions and play in the pocket. That Harrison Smith pick, there wasn't any major pressure, could have checked it down to Crow.
You forgot to mention QB'S that fall into a perfect situation with weapons galore and great offensive head coach....that is the category I would put Mahomes. I watched the game against Cincy. His receivers were so open I could have had 4 TD'S. Nothing against Mahomes...I think he is a very good QB but I believe any of this year's top QB'S drafted would look brilliant on the Chiefs. A QB'S success , especially as a rookie, depends alot on his supporting cast.
And the Jets see similar potential with Sam. So where are you going with this? Oh wait, Sam won't succeeed because you say so? Or better, your point about McCown could do better behind this pathetic excuse for an offense....So freaking what? Sam has a world of growth in front of him, just like the aforementioned QBs. McCown has none. And please don't bring Petty in the same breath with Sam. That has to be the biggest laughable bunch of shit ever. Right up there with JerseyJays hugely distorted stats selected at random to make a point. I sometime wonder if some of you guys are closet Jets haters, swinging BS and see what sticks.
Flashes of good play by Sam is a good sign as a rookie. It shows he can be good. Consistency will come with experience...& a better supporting cast of players. Like Chad Pennington said he played great against the colts, but there will be games that he will play like a rookie, it's inevitable for rookie QB'S to make rookie mistakes.
Plus 100 LA SD>>>the greatest thing since sliced bread to land on the Jets runway and for fans the grass is never green enough for them Put Sam D and Baker M under the tutelage of an Andy Reid and watch the fireworks even with the present..healthier maybe..receiving corp It's rumored that Hugh Jackson is on his way out of Cleveland after fight with Dorsey Is our Bubba Gump next???
Under Andy Reid this team would be far ahead in execution and discipline. Add the fact that he is such a great influence in discovering talent thru the draft, directly or indirectly, is an invaluable bonus.
Under The Johnsons, this franchise does not hire prior HC's. I don't see that changing anytime soon...
As I've said before, if we're gonna get another first timer, it better be an OC who has developed a QB. Maybe we can strike gold like the Rams did with McVay.
Again, game #7. He's improved every game, even when making mistakes. My ONLY concern about his is him getting hurt playing behind this OL and trying to make up for a lack of receivers and a consistent running game.
I’m as negative a fan there is And I think Sam is legit But of course, I’m just a guy on an Internet forum I will say that we MUST surround the kid with skill players, decent OL, and legit offensive coach..... He’s too valuable to waste
Sanchez had a stacked team in 09 and 10 and at his best looked serviceable. Granted, the Jets didn't have elite receivers back then either, but you could easily rate that group a few steps above this one. Plus the running game was elite. Darnold has shown flashes of great talent with a garbage team. To compare the two is silly.
Sanchez had one of the best OLs in the league, the best running game, a killer defense, and was also throwing to Braylon Edwards, Santonio Holmes, and Dustin Keller. Who is Darnold throwing to?
It’s not just the meadowlands, but for chrissakes Buffalo and Foxboro in November and December too will at times be brutal. There is no more brutal weather division - including the NFC N with two domes but Chicago and GB. This is the stadium that delivered an outdoor SB from hell. Throw in Miami as a curveball, especially in September with the heat and humidity and this is not a friendly weather division.
Darnold isn't getting killed by this line, but I would like to see him take less chances specifically on first down, a lot of interceptions have come on that down. He will continue to learn to pick and choose his battles.
The only reason why Darnold isn't getting killed by this line is because he has escapability. If he was a firm pocket QB with no ability to get outside of the tackles, the sack totals would be way higher.
