Thomas is good but too old 30 we need someone to grow with Darnold. Dolphins won’t trade Parker to us. He would be cheap too. So it’s Cooper I say. It’s a now move and a future move. Get er done Mac.
At that time we were set at WR, do we carry 7,8 or 9 for just in case of multiple injuries, who do we lose to accommodate the extra WR's, lose a couple of CB's we had way too many of those in the squad as well, oh damn, couple of them down injured as well.
I agree. If we were going to make a legitimate run at the playoffs, Thomas would be a good pickup, but at sub .500 this far into the season there's no point. The Jets need to stay focused on the future. Dolphins won't trade Parker within the division. I'm a big fan of Cooper, a change of scenery and new scheme could serve him well. The coaching staff gets knocked all the time but Dorrell has done a good job developing Enunwa and Anderson; I'd love to see what he can do with Amari. Just imagine Cooper, Enunwa, and Anderson all lined up at the same time.
I hate that Parker plays for a division rival because he's the perfect trade target. His value is in the dumpster and he's exactly what we're looking for. Probably could be had for a 5th, but not by us. If I'm Macc, I'm calling Gruden the second I get into the office today about Cooper. You can only hope they realize they aren't getting a 1 for him.
So much hate for Darnold? Give the kid a chance, he's got a shitty Oline, a center who can't snap the damn ball, and no one to throw to.
My point was, you're never "set" at any position. This is the NFL, injuries happen. I think we (as a collective) over-estimated our talent/depth at WR. The DB's played surprisingly well considering the fire they were thrown into.
Think you are mixing up your points tbh, you called for us to have signed Gordon, had a dig at those who said we were set at WR (which we were at the time of Gordon's availability) now it is over-estimating our talent/depth, we had 4 WR's in Robby, Q, Kearse, Pryor, 2 more on special teams in Peake/Roberts, but also crucially a supposed west coast offence that was going to also make use of TE's in Leggett, Herndon and Sterling, essentially giving us the extra firepower. Granted that hasn't worked out as planned but Bates hardly went out of his way to utilize the TE's knowing he was short of WR's due to injury on Sunday, surely it is his job to come up with a game plan to get the best out of the players available? But like I said you can't sign up everybody in case you have an injury, it would be great if you could have more than 53 players to choose from in these moments. So who would you not have had in the squad to accommodate the extra WR's just in case we got a situation like yesterday?
I called for us to sign Gordon? I think you have the wrong guy. Peake and Roberts were good special teams pickups, but neither is a legitimate NFL receiver - just my assessment, but I'm not a scout. I do agree with you on the use (or lack thereof) of our TE's and I expected Leggett to be a bigger factor than he has turned out to be. Herndon has been an early surprise and I am looking forward to watching his development. Again, my post was not a knock on the front office, it was simply an observation regarding some of the pre-season comments on this forum. Some posters thought we were "set" at WR - you are never "set" at any position in the NFL. That doesn't mean you can always do something about it.
Yes, Sorry, just looked back and I misread "sure as hell I didn't want Gordon", read it as he (mac) didn't want Gordon lol sometimes wonder how you misread things.
