The blame isn’t solely on him and I never said it was. He deserves some blame though but the majority has to go to the lack of receivers. The receivers he had today reminded me of Genos early years.
That certainly was one of the issues, but I stand by what I was watching. We'll just have to leave it there. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Bowles said they had a plan at WR. I was expecting that they would go out and sign Matthews from Tennessee or perhaps even move a late round pick for a decent wide receiver. Instead the big move was cutting Pryor and moving Burnett from the practice squad. That sure addressed our problem!
Yeah, not too worried about the way Darnold played this game. Bad talent at the WR position, horrible drops, no separating which led to pressure upfront, horrible snaps, and a pretty rough wind with gusts of 40mph. I'll chalk it up to a learning experience against a very lethal passing offense. Not gonna look good on the stat sheet, but that's obviously not a big concern.
Makes me wonder how each would perform if they all switched to each other’s teams. Sam and Mayfield have been feast or famine. Rosen and Allen have been famine. I’d like to believe that we’ve seen enough of Sam to say he’ll be a solid starter for us with a strong OL and some legitimate weapons at his disposal, but there are teams that have the QB but never quite get the supporting cast right. We can probably stand pat with the RB’s and TE’s, but with all the WR/OL FA’s we’ll need new receivers and lineman this offseason. I’d rate those needs about equal because without the receivers, we’ll trade getting beat for sacks with coverage sacks, and vice versa. Tall order for one offseason.
Well this off-season will be our chance, for sure. We will have an absolute ton of money to spend and there will be a number of very good offensive weapons available. Should be exciting to see what Mac does.
We need a new C, LT, number 1 WR, and pass rusher. I think TE will become less of a need with the emergence of Herndon.
He was picking snaps up off the ground, avoiding rushers immediately in his face, and then watching receivers drop his passes. He was frustrated today and it was obvious
It's a legitimate question that given what we know now is impossible to answer. So there's no point to ask it.
To potentially save some posters here from future mental breakdowns: The kid is sure to have a few more stinkers this year..... especially when they face good defenses
