Nobody is expecting Bowles to win more than 6 games with this crew. Get him some talent and then he can be properly evaluated. The team's lack of discipline is very alarming though.
I'd say, maybe Greeny is on the game forums, but, really, you'd have to be blind not to see this for the past four seasons.
Today’s game wasn’t on Bowles. It was on Bates and Jet players making mistakes, dropped passes, not recovering fumble, and poor snaps.
All those other factors are true, but why did Bowles elect to defer and then not take the wind in the 1st and 4th quarters? Why didn't he challenge more bad calls? Why didn't he have a backup ready to replace Long? He's not a goo coach.
Bowles's other options at center were Brian Winters and Dakota Dozier. Bowles had a terrible game, but the problem at center is on Mac not Bowles.
Lee celebrates instead of picking up the fumble. Nickerson celebrates instead of picking up the fumble. Anderson throws the ball at the ref. Long forgets how to snap. That's only four, can someone pick me up and find the fifth? Or sixth, seventh, etc?
I wasn't putting it all on Bowles, but doesn't he have a part? At what point does a coach realize that a player is doing more harm than good, which is what Long was doing?
Sure Bowles could have benched Long. But switching from a nightmare center to a crappy one wouldn't have won us the game, plus in the long run Long is still probably the better option. I think there was plenty from this game to get on Bowles for (halftime adjustments, dumbass players, etc), but Long was not his fault.
Bowls Jets are like a prison league team. Showboating and personal rep are more important than the team as a whole. A big guy in the middle who can’t actually snap the ball. An amazing kicker who shouldn’t actually be in jail. A star QB who’s guilty by association. A RB who’s locked up for defecating in public...etc There are personel problems and there are coaching problems. They’re both glaring. If the draft were 1 round per year we’d have one of the best GM’s in the league. If Bowls were the DC, we’d have a good D and a better head coach. As it stands, it’s not working as intended.
There are way too many bullshit penalties that continue to occur. Making a physical mistake or even a mental mistake is excusable. The bullshit Anderson or Crowell type penalties CAN NOT HAPPEN ANYMORE.
He would not be snapping in New England I don't care who the backups are. They wouldn't be afraid to go to those other 2 guys if they had to. A center that can't snap a football. SMH
