On the heels of a strong performance in Week 5, Sam Darnold was tremendous in the Jets' Week 6 win over the Colts. And his Pro Football Focus grades bear that out.

According to PFF, Darnold has the second-best passing grade (89.8) in the NFL over the last two weeks. Over that same span, his 71.4 deep accuracy percentage is third and his accuracy percentage with a clean pocket (87.2) is fourth.

Things opened up for Darnold in Week 5 due in part to the record-breaking game running back Isaiah Crowell had. But in the win over the Colts, he picked apart the Indianapolis defense without the benefit of being able to fall back on a red-hot ground game.

Against the Colts, Darnold completed 24 of 30 passes for 280 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

Overall this season, the 21-year-old Darnold has completed 107 of 179 passes for 1,346 yards with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions -- though five of those interceptions came during his first three starts.

Darnold's next test will come against the Vikings on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The Vikings are in the middle of the pack when it comes to their passing defense, having allowed an average of 359.8 yards per game.

Jets have the 11th ranked offence. I expected Sam to be good but not this fast. He is improving week to week. You can see him getting better each week as he gets more & more acclimated to his WR 's .

I'm saying that he is growing faster than I expected. One week we say he needs to throw the ball deep & the next week he hit Robb for 2 deep TD's. On other week we say he needs to stop throwing to Quincy all the time & a week later he spreads the ball around to Kearse, Pryor, Herndon, Robby. Let's not forget my biggest fear of Darnold ball security in the pocket, problem solved, no fumbles lost & only one fumble. He is a fast learner IMO & that's why I say he has exceed my expectations with his ceiling no where in sight.

I think there may have been the slightest touch of the sarcasm about his "has he exceeded your expectations" reply

    :rolleyes::)

In all fairness, Mayfield's full-season PFF grade is much higher than Darnold's. Then again, PFF are the only ones who think Mayfield has been significantly better than Darnold.

How can Baker be better than Darnold
    SD vs BM
    Comp. % 60% to 55%
    Turnovers 7 to 7
    TD'S 9 to 5
    QB rating 83 to 72

Sam is getting better each week while Baker is getting worse week to week

Baker has also turned the ball over more in less games. Darnold is going to be OROY without a doube, you can take it to the f***ing bank

I love Sam too Bud..and personally I think he's already carrying this team

BUT in fairness to Baker ..the Browns level of completion is also HARDER i.e. Playing Ravens Chargers Raiders and of course beating the Jets straight up

yeah it was a good season but marhsall and decker werne't explsoive. anderson is the most explosive player we've had since santana moss and crowell is the best home run hitting RB we've had in who knows how long. plus 2016 was a borrowed time season with an old squad. this year we have young players who should be around for a while. it's very possible darnold to anderson is the next ryan to julio or ben to brown type situation. they could be together for the next 10 years

the DVOA ratings show baker has had it average while sam has had it 3rd toughest in the NFL. eli has it 3rd easiest and still sucks. not relevant but i just like poking fun at eli at times

you didn't said explosive, you said exciting :) ... Decker and Marshall had a great year and made amazing catches all year long. The point was that season, they were exciting to watch on O.
