I really think he'll wait out Paterno. PSU should have opening in about 2010.

That seems to be the prevailing rumor.

Great news about him turning down the Miami job though.

Why would anyone want to coach Miami right now.
Bama is a much better situation and I might even consider NC State or Arizona State before Miami at this point.

rofl just cause of the reference.

but Paterno shoul dbe the head coach, when he dies they should have him stuffed and keep him on the sidelines with a head set and clipboard.

or maybe the Madamme Tousseaud's Wax Museum could just make a replica of him and nobody else would know the difference.

Bama is a awesome job, they had great recruits even on bowl probation because of their history alone.

Shula was just too conservative with the offense, something I noticed and other bama fan friends of mine have said.

I love watching them play although this yr was dissappointing. But best of luck.

I don't blame Shula, their offense has sucked, they haven't had a great player in a while. The defense is what makes them Bama.

It's so much fun that everyone cares so much about what I write:smile:

It sounds like he's waiting for PSU, if RU struggles then he'll regret passing on Miami but if RU continues to be a good program it will be worth it although it will take alot mroe to turn around PSU than Miami.

It's fun when you have to admit you're wrong because that happens as often as Haley's Comet. RU is only going to get better, they will start next year ranked, will begin playing Notre Dame the following year and will continue to be able to recruit almost the whole eastern seaboard unchallenged by any school. Pretty sweet.

That last point is pretty ambitious. The few talents that come out of NJ are usually scooped up by other schools and while they may have a leg up on the tri-state area now, it is not exactly a football hotbed. Once you get into Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, those players are intensely sought by the entire ACC and SEC which offer much more attractive spots than Rutgers can offer.

Looks like Rodriguez mightbe going to Bama. I could live with that. Knock WVU down a couple pegs and make Bama a little more than harmless. Not sure if the spread offense will work down there where defense is king.

Hold on a second there, few talents from NJ? New Jersey is in the top ten every year as far as putting out top 100 prospects; it obviously isn't enough to support 2-3 teams like Florida or California, but I'd put them just below states like Virginia and Ohio.

    * Not to mention, New York's been improving it's turnout of prospects recently as well, still not all that terrific, but a great supplement to what NJ as done.

Back to Paterno. I'm pretty sure he's going to slip down hill fairly quick. I mean, really, you'd think he'd remember Rule #1 of College Football Etiquette:

If you got to run to the bathroom in the middle of the game, DON'T cross in front of the other team's punter! - Emily Post

I disagree, 'Bama is an awful job. You're always going to lose 1 or 2 games per season because you have to play in the SEC, and if you lose 2 Iron Bowls in a row you are on the hot seat no matter how well your team does otherwise.

I'd definately rather be at Miami, where you have an equally good reputation amongst recruits and pollsters, but you get to play in the cupcake ACC.
