I know the line isn’t doing him any favors but I don’t see anything about Darnold that makes him seem so great to me. Sorry not sorry
Darnold appears to be one notch above noodle arm. His accuracy is not there either. Can this be developed? Not likely with this coaching staff.
USC qb's...smh. I think he is better than he is playing. He needs to calm down in the pocket, he has developed a case of happy feet. He looks jittery lacking confidence, once the game slows down i believe he will be productive.
Thrown to the Lions..and now thrown to the wolves SD is talented but clearly not ready I thought 10 million McGown should have started season as well this CS is desperate,,so lets ruin the kid who cares..smh NC myself and a few others wanted b Mayfield..but the Browns beat us to it
Were ruining him. God hope this kid has a fighter mentality because this team is scary bad. The coaching staff needs to go and Darnold needs to sit until we get a better offensive line.
Amazing what a clean pocket and a line finally opening some running lanes (understatement tbh, they abused the Denver defensive front) to make play-action actually work can do to show a week-to-week improvement in deep ball placement. Quincy had a few drops today against Denver (and there an early blatant PI on him that should have gotten called) or Darnold's statline would look even more impressive this week. Only a handful of misplaced throws that seemed really on him all game. He's looking good when he has time to plant his feet and throw. He might not ever be Mahomes/Stafford/Rodgers level pure arm talent, but he's still got the tools to drop dimes 50+ air yards downfield. He is also only 21, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some arm strength improvements with an NFL weight program over the coming years. There was an old interview with Bruce Arians (can't find the link atm) where he said even Peyton Manning didn't get his best stuff on his deep ball until 3-4 years into the league - deep throw accuracy is absolutely something that can be developed and improved over time.
If you read my op you will see it was a concern...and as you guys have seen i wasnt the only 1 with the concern. As a fan i am elated to see this aspect of the game executed. The long ball will open up so many more plays underneath as well as improve the run game.
Lol "I'm concerned about the long ball." One game later. "I'm elated." Too many opinions made and thwarted in 7 days. Darnold has shown he can make all the throws, but he doesnt have a cannon which is OK. His entire skill set doesn't change on a week to week basis.
No he doesn't have a Mahomes arm, but almost no one does. But that throw to the outside to Kearse was damn good. A "noodle arm" doesn't make that throw.
