......Since this board has a lot of pretty knowledgeable football fans, I was curious how you guys would answer these .two quick questions....point-blank: 1-Who do you think was the greatest single-season Jets team of all-time and 2-Who do you think was the most dominant/greatest single-season NFL team of all-time?

Regarding the first question, I would have to go with the Super Bowl III Champion Jets, who dominated the Colts. Regarding the second question, the correct answer is obviously the 1985 Chicago Bears, but that is just common sense and reality speaking, lol.

Anyway who would you guys say is the greatest Jets team of all-time and the greatest NFL team of all-time?

on a side note, Buddy Ryan was a vital part of BOTH teams' success. He was the DL coach on that Jets team and was of course the DC and inventor of the most dominant and destructive Defense which the league has EVER SEEN, the 84 AND 85 Bears 46 Defense. The Man belongs in the football HOF for his contributions to the continued evolution of the sport, just as Don Coryell belongs in the HOF for the same reason. But I digress.....lol.

The answer to the first question is obvious - the 1968 Jets that won the Super Bowl.

My answer to the second question is the 14-2 1989 San Francisco 49ers - besides Montana, Rice, Taylor, Lott, and Haley (Roger Craig had over 1000 yards rushing, too), they had a 28-year-old Steve Young as their backup quarterback. First in the league in scoring, 3rd in the league in scoring defense, and won their three postseason games by an average of 33.3 points.

68 Jets best Jets team. 66 Packers best NFL team all time. Honorable mention no particular order. 49er's team 84. Steeler's 1978 team. Cowboys 77 Team. Bears 85 team. Miami 72 Team. Oakland Raiders 76 Team. Denver Bronco's 1997 team. 2007 NE Patriots team (only none championship team). 82 Redskins.

Guys, as you already know, I really like and respect both of you, but I really have to disagree with your responses to the 2nd question, because quite frankly, you are both dead wrong, and the facts, the stats and the reality of the situation, all bear that out.

2nd rate QB big running game and D, very similar to the 2000 Baltimore Ravens. Nobody is putting the Ravens in the discussion. 1 year great team that's D was completely dismantled by Dan Marino on national TV. Great team, in the argument but you can't compare them to teams like the Steelers, Packers, Cowboys, 49ers, Raiders and Pats who had great defense and HOF QB's with great complimentary offenses.

What's with the Mike Neufield and the Newfoundland Times accusations brought your way?

My next question is, did you get banned over there?

I'm not one to rush to judgement, but you appear to be a troll, if that BuddyRyan46 is in fact you. If that is in fact true, now you're trolling the New York Jets board? WTF?! lmao

3 teams immediately came to mind to me for Greatest of all time (Super Bowl ERA)
I cannot comment on some of the great 50’s and 60’s teams.

Hate to say it but the first was the 1972 Dolphins. Went to SB year before, Went undefeated with few close games and the went on to win another SB year after. Probably more balanced Offense/Defense than the next team that came to mind. Great players on both sides.

Obviously the 1985 Bears will always be in this discussion. I think their defense may the most dominant in modern NFL history, regardless of stats offense was definitely the lesser unit by far.

The 3rd team that came to mind was the 1975 Steelers. I know some say the 1978 team was better, but I do not think so. I feel the defense was more dominant in 75.

Jets the answer has to be 1968 - Super Bowl Champs.

^^^^^I would thank you to politely and respectfully refrain from impugning my integrity on this board, Schillinger. I have done and said absolutely nothing wrong since I joined this board. I have certainly never attacked or disrespected you. I would politely request that you pay me the same respect. Since I have joined the board, I have been completely respectful of the NY Jets, their loyal fanbase and all of the posters on this board. There was no need to launch such a vicious ad hominem attack against me, Schillinger. Quite frankly, sir, you owe me an apology for this groundless and wholly unprovoked attack.

Finally, in response to your query, no that is most certainly not my handiwork over on the ChiCity message boards. I have never been a member over on those boards, nor have I ever posted a single message as a guest. Since you obviously have much free time on your hands, as evidenced by your quoted post, please feel free to "DOXX" me and "DOXX" the other BuddyRyans46 over on ChiCity Sports, and you will see that the IP addresses simply do not match up. I have nothing to hide since I walk in the truth, so I invite you to do so, if it will help you to rest easier tonight. I bid you good day, sir.

Thank you to all of my supporters within this thread and on this board. It has been both a pleasure and a privilege to post here as a guest. I have always been honest about who I am on this board, and I appreciate your support. I am sorry that Schillinger decided to drag this particular thread through the mud. Now I know how all of the unjustly accused and wrongfully persecuted feel.

Greatest Jets team of all time? The Super Bowl team. One thing that's never discussed when talking about the 1969 Super Bowl team is that if the Colts had won as expected (let's just say by the 17 point spread), that Colts team would be in the discussion of the greatest team of all time. The only game that team lost (before the Super Bowl) was to Cleveland (30 to 20) and when they played again in the NFL Championship game (two weeks before the Super Bowl), the Colts destroyed them 34-0.

Greatest team in NFL history? The 1985 Bears. That team was so much better than the next closest teams that year (as demonstrated by their margin of victory in the playoff games). And because it didn't depend on a Hall of Fame QB, it was almost injury-proof.

I always welcome fans of other teams here as long as they're respectful, knowledgeable, and not trolls or jerks. To date, you've been a good poster and started some good threads. That said, politics is a no-no here and will get you banned. Mentioning Kavanaugh is politics.
