IMHO. To much to do about the wrong issue. Lots of diversionary chatter about the reason why Todd Bowles fired the OC, .....blah, blah, blah, blah. Neither the fans, nor apparently the media have all the facts. So what really? All this talk is now being railroaded by a few about offense, while most the folks here, and rightfully so, are wondering why inept to the max Kacey Rodgers is still our DC, and most significantly, why is TB, know for his so called "excellent defensive mind" is putting up with this inept defense and even more inept DC.. A lot of smoke is being spread around about personnel, and lack of a rusher as a fix all, thus avoiding the real issue, that is, regardless of personnel you must adjust your defense as the offense changes the game plan. Good coaches adjust the schemes on the fly depending on what the offense does and inept coaches are incapable of reacting that fast. Welcome to our world of one game plan fits all. It will take a lot more than an elite pass rusher to fix inadequate coaching.
You nailed it! Does this team desperately need an elite pass rusher? Damn right! But for whatever reason they haven't gotten one yet, so Bowles needs to come up with a scheme that can be successful without that. He has not done this. He has stuck with a 3-4 approach, which MAY be the best one given the personnel they have, but if I was a HC I would be trying every possibility to overcome this persistent issue (lack of pass rush), and it seems like Bowles is sticking to his "tried and true" methods. The problem is that his methods aren't so "true".
Toilet Bowles should take back his manhood, resign from being HC, and go back to city league coaching. That is where he belongs. He needs to build from scratch. Maybe by the time he is 90 he will be worth a damn.
I'm not going to read through the entire thread, especially when I'm already on the record stumping for the removal of Kacy Rogers. He's a monument to incompetence. There's been no pass rush during his entire tenure. It's the most passive defense I've seen. The backs and LB's are always chasing the ball. I wouldn't hire him to run a HS defense. Does he have pictures of Bowles with a sheep? A goat? Jane Fonda? This team will never go anywhere as long as he's the DC.
I hope next year he doesn't even have the option to choose. And he's at home watching TV unemployed. I wouldn't wish bowles on my worst enemies team.
No, it's better in comparison to previous years. And progress is welcomed, but they need to get a LOT better.
All he had to say was “I am? That’s news to me”. The fact that he became animated about it is telling.
Yeah, everything needs to get a lot better. But I think our pass rush has been better than our pass coverage--so I'm less inclined to harp on the part of the team that's been at least average.
Soooooooooooooooo, Bowles takes over some of the defensive play calling then we proceeded to give up 31 points and close to 500 yards to Blake Bortles and some back up skilled players? Did I get that right?
Maybe yes, maybe no. It depends if Bowles was ever serious about taking back some duties - kind of like was Elon Musk ever serious about taking Tesla private?
Just because the Pat's defense was bad against the Jax team doesn't give me any solace or Bowles legitimate excuses. The Giants held the Jaguars to 13 points and just over 310 yards. Likewise, the Titans held Jax to less than 260 yards and 6 points. Therefore, Jax hasn't proved to be a consistently great offense. It's not that the Jets defense is that bad. I would say they are a league average D. You could argue that they are a little better or a little worse. However, with the amount of resources that the Jets have expended over the years (both in dollars and draft picks) they should be better. It's that simple - at least in my eyes.
