Agree, I don’t see a total house cleaning coming though. Really not sure what the answer is here. On one hand mac should probably get to see his vision through another year. On the other, do we risk him screwing up the cap and a draft? We have sam though and nothing I have seen makes me think we will be in the qb market anytime soon. The rate this season is going we will have a top 5 pick too. So we’re still looking ok for a quick ascension. It’s never easy with this team though.
If they end up 4 -12 with no progress from any aspect of this team, I’m ok with firing Bowles and Staff, hire a young OC that can grow with Darnold. Keep Mac and allow new HC to ask for offensive help, maybe grab a guard in second round as opposed to a defensive player. FA is not the answer, addressing both sides of the ball in the draft is. Problem is I don’t think Casserly 2.0 is good at his job either. A new defensive scheme may also help with the players they have, doesn’t hurt to try changing scheme before Mac is sent packing.
It's a good thing I don't wear heels and panty hose. I might have stabbed out my eyeballs and hung myself. Then again I guess I should rethink my position.
If we could find a proven football guy to be President of Football Ops, I'd let him decide the fates of Bowles and Macc. Just not sure who that is.
Who really cares ... at the end of the day whoever we hire will fail cause we're the Jets ! we can't draft, can't develop, can't coach, we outsmart ourselves ... whoever we give big money to decides to get fat and or quit ... we are cursed ... period stop. Darnold was a turnover machine in college IDK why anyone thought it would be different here, our OL is worse than at USC Yes I'm miserable welcome to the life of a Mets and Jets fan I have been a fan of the 4 major sports since 95 and I'm 0 for 92 in winning a championship sue me
The problem is, fire Todd keep mac and you are either giving mac another 3 years or going into another Rex/idzic situation with the time lines all skewed
It’s what the Jaguars did, Caldwell had Gus Bradley when he was hired by them, after 3 years he fired him and went with Marrone. Caldwell still has the job as GM and found the right coach and scheme for players he drafted.
It’s all about how much you trust the guy. I feel like Jax/ Caldwell we’re stocking the talent and it was clear Bradley is the only big problem. Not sure we’re there. I do think it willl go down the way you’re saying though.
Traditionally Gms have been given a longer leash bc its a much more big picture position & conventional wisdom states it takes 3 years to judge a draft.you only get so many go rounds in drafts/FA before you can really turn the tide & the organization; Its an even bigger challenge when the head coach stinks. I think a case can be made for & against keeping Mac.It just depends on the circumstances. If there is a clearcut obvious HC candidate that comes available who likes Mac thats an easy decision..or vuce versa. If there is no obvious candidate id be curious to hear who Mac would wanna interview
Red, I'm opposed to hiring another novice HC, unless we can't hire Harbaugh or some other experienced HC with a background in offense. While it's better to build via the draft, I disagree that FA can't be part of the answer in conjunction with the draft. They could sign an edge rusher in FA. There are several pretty good RTs who could make it to FA. One of them could push Shell and possibly even beat him out. They could possibly sign a FA WR to impove the WR corps. We don't have a 2nd round pick. If Ali Marpet makes it to FA, he would be a great addition to our OL. He would be a big upgrade over Carpenter. The Jets could grab their future LT with their first round pick, grab an OG with one of their 3rd round picks and a RB with their other 3rd round pick. I would be all for switching to a 4-3 D alignment.
alert the media....its been a while,,,,,but the planets have aligned again as we are currently in agreement !!!! Fjay screw this football crap , time to start looking at long range weather stuff !!!!
Guys, look at this very simple truth table. Bowles is always going to be a bigger threat to your mental well-being than Macc will ever be. If anything, Macc is not involved with day-to-day operations related to installing plays and training/coaching the players, like Bowles is, or supposed to be. That is the job of Bowles ultimately. I have been literally SCREAMING to spot ONE player Bowles coached up or improved. ONE. If your chef absolutely suck at cooking, does it matter what kind of food stuff you buy for him? He will mangle/butcher/trash them all the same. THAT SAID... Who assembled this sorry-ass coaching staff? Is that also Macc? Or is it Bowles? AND... Yeah. Maybe Macc sucks too. He is a partner-in-crime when it comes to the shit show that is the Jets. My position is - I don't know if that is the case, or how much of the blame should go on his plate, given the absolute shittiness exhibited by Toilet Bowles.
