Who does it best, and how do we improve upon it? Curious to hear what peoe think. I have a theory that I would like to see put into practice. Drop Adams into the box 70% of the time as a OLB. The problem with this is it only works if Maye is back and healthy. The combinationof Middleton and Wilcox can sub in for Adams. Is this a permanent fix, is the ideal solution, no to both. But I do believe it gives us the best odds for success in the short term. So far Adams has been able to get into the backfield much easier and faster than anyone else, Martin excluded since he hasn't seen the field.
I don't think we have anyone who is a dependable pass-rusher. We have a bunch of people who can get to the QB every now and then, but nobody who makes you think, that's our guy. We operate a 'pass-rusher by committee' system.
Brandon Copeland sadly has been our better "pass rusher" so far and that's not saying much. The only time Adams has been effective in blitzing is as an 8th man in the box. I personally don't think Adams in an actual Linebacker role and part of the front 7 would be as effective. Pretty sure his lack of strength and shedding ability would be a weakness vs TE's and Oline.
I feel like Avery Williamson should be in the list. He's gotten a few good licks in and has a couple of sacks.
Wait...do you mean the Jets really have some "pass rushers" on the roster? I knew they had some "pass strollers" and "pass moseyers," but not "pass rushers."
Todd bowles isn't an option??? That's crazy cause he's sacked this team time and time again, with his horrible coaching decisions.
We don't have any true pass rushers. We have an overabundance of D lineman who the coaches scheme as glorified, slow, bull rushers. But no true, explosive edge rushers.
