1) the comments are nowhere near as bad as the headline 2) the Jets had 3 days (2 practices) to prepare for this game. Someone expected them to install 2 defensive gameplans?
This is not true. I saw a tweet that the blitz frequency was virtually identical against Tyrod/Baker, but Mayfield just got the ball out significantly quicker. Maybe I can find it.
I’m not trying single out anyone specific. My problem with the situation is how does experience not come into play here? The whole dynamic of this team seems questionable. Kevin Greene, Bowles, Rodgers, these guys have lots of playing and coaching experience. The hurry up is not some secret scheme that TH was waiting to unleash on the NFL. It’s incredibly frustrating to see the same deficiencies, no big plays, poor situational awareness, 2 fumbles that were recoverable by jets players being recovered by Cleveland, the INT in the end zone, that play was made against the jets vs Miami. Detroit was only game where jets had big plays. When are these Jets players going to capitalize on their opportunities? It can’t be once every 4 games when they get motivated to stop a losing streak. We can’t continue to use the youth or development factor, catch the ball, fall on the ball, they have been exposed to these things since childhood. Bowles cannot continue to use these things as an excuse. “We had opportunities but didn’t capitalize” Sams development is understandable, everyone else should be very comfortable and making plays at this point, they should be carrying team until Sam catches up. That’s my perspective on where this team should be.
No. Thy didn't need to, or shouldn't have had to. They just needed to make in-game adjustments. Oh, that's right, Todd Bowles don't do adjustments.
Remember when they outscored the Lions 31-0 in the 3rd quarter? I’m sure not a single adjustment was made at halftime
I don't blame the CS for not preparing during the week for a backup QB. what i blame them for is the lack of halftime adjustments. They knew before the half baker was gonna finish the game but didn't adjust meanwhile cleveland adjusted the offense and just out smarted us. Taylor likes ot hold the ball, run, extend plays and play "backyard football" meanwhile with baker they ran a bunch of quick timing routes and 1 read plays to get the ball out of his hand yet the jets D dropped into zone blitzes with contain the entire 2nd half. That falls on rodgers but apparently bowles is taking over the playcalling on defense now. even during the game bowles looked frustrated with the defense. we should have been playing a lot more man with some exotic blitzes
Naw, Mike McIdiot will take a WR in the first round next year and again ignore OL and pass rush. He has taken a WR in 4th round (2017 Hansen), and a WR in the 3rd round (2017 Stewart) and a WR in the 2nd round (2015 Smith) and none of them even play in the league anymore. Why not make your record perfect and strike out again with a WR in round 1? I thought it ironic that the jets lost to the forever winless browns on or/about the same day they cut last year's 3rd round pick WR Stewart. As bad a coach as Bowles is, I think McCagnan IS stupider. I still cannot believe that ridiculous 2017 draft--back to back safeties, then back to back WRs (both lasted 1 year), and ending with back to back CBs. No offensive lineman or defensive lineman among 9 selections. Dumb shit. Someone should memo that nitwit that occasionally games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. And Mac's "star" offensive lineman Brian Winters, who he gave the big extension to, got manhandled by the brownies. ,
bad coaching, bad players, bad drafting, bad management - I really can't understand why this team doesn't enjoy more success - just unlucky i guess
Bowles now says Adams "misspoke." I'm not entirely sure what Bowles means. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/09/26/todd-bowles-on-jamal-adams-he-misspoke/
The only way I saw Bowles losing his job this year is unfolding right in front of us. These are some big games coming up for Todd the next few weeks.A lot of holes in the dike right now.
And given the emotion he used in rebutting this, he knows the bad image it sends about him to his boss.
Ya mean everyone with a pulse knew that Baker could possibly come in the game except for clueless Bowles?!? Yeah.. seems about right...
Usually it wouldn't be, but I'd think that just about everyone knew that there was a pretty good chance that Mayfield would be in the game. It's not like your normal game.
Seriously? You're gonna compare Baker Mayfield, the #1 pick in the draft with the scrub backups around the NFL? SMH
But but Last year many fans made the excuse that even though we went 5-11, Todd had the team prepared. That was the big narrative. Hmmmm So is he a preparer or not? Wherever the wind blows I guess.
