Is this even a good thing? Was he not responsible for playing HOF press coverage corner Darrelle Revis 10 yards off the line of scrimmage?
Its his defense so taking over does nothing. If he couldn't recognize the issues in the previous 3 years what good would it do now., So what is Rodgers duties Gatorade dispenser? This team is even more dysfunctional than at any time under Bowels. Clean house!!!
What the hell else was he supposed to do? He never had good revis he had broken slow revis that was far from HOF press coverage revis. I have been blaming alot of the cover 0 cover 1 coverage on Bowles if it turns out it was rodgers this whole time im gonna feel stupid. How is it that you know so much behind the scenes info man?
I feel like this bounces back and forth so much. Definitely catching the vibe that Bowles knows his seat is getting hot.
Maybe he'll actually do something other than watch the football game on Sunday. Like talk to the players or discuss strategy
Hey Todd! The defense is ranked 8th in the league, the offense is 21st. You’re worried about the wrong side of the ball!
I don't understand why this is public information. If Todd is putting this out there because he's hearing whispers regarding his job status and feels he needs to show some sort of action, that worries me. Todd doesn't seem to be that kind of guy though.
They must feel like they burned their mulligan Thursday night. Losing games they can’t blame on the rookie qb is the only way I thought they could get canned
In his defense, we're only ranked that high because of the first game of the season lol A little inflated
Honestly I was going to give Bowles till the end of the season to pass judgment on him and the team. 4 years into this, new assistants, 3 different OC, his defensive scheme has good players, it’s not a bunch of over the hill veterans looking for paycheck. No answer for a rookie QB, penalties still an issue with team, can’t blame Willie Colon now, found a way to lose to the Browns. The guy is out of lives at this point. If Jets are 2-6 at halfway mark, I believe he gets fired mid season. I would see no reason to keep seeing same script every week. I want to hope that they can turn it around this year and save the season but after that SOJ loss to Browns it’s difficult to see such turnaround.
Not for nothing, but he's only taking over calls in the 2 minute drills and hurry up situations. Big fuckin deal. This guy has lost so much respect in my eyes. And that's saying a lot because I used to defend this bozo endlessly. But this whole charade is baffling me. I don't believe for one second that this will change anything
The Defense looked really great against Cleveland until Baker came out. Though it's a good story to say that Baker lit the Jets up, that's not what I saw-- I saw the Jets completely back off and give his targets huge cushions underneath, and he just threw it around virtually unopposed. It's true the offense couldn't score or even stay on the field, but the vanilla defensive play calling once Mayfield came in is the primary reason the Jets lost that game. I have been blaming Bowles for this, but maybe he's blaming Rodgers for it.
Understood, but how much of that was Taylor's garbage play or the Jets dominance? After the game, Bowles made the dumbass remark that a new QB does not change the defensive game plan. If that's true, than it proves that Tyrod Taylor is garbage, not that our defense is that great. A great defense, or 8th ranked defense, does not allow a rookie in his first game ever to come back and win a game. Especially when he led the Browns to 21 points.
He’s running Bowles defense, it’s not Rodgers Scheme. Bowles was running the defense the whole time. He just handed over the defensive play calling to Rodgers midway last year. Edit: Bowles gave Rodgers total control over defense halfway through 2016, not 2017. 2017 defense play calling was all Rodgers.
