No--it's potentially too risky--not unless it's for less draft capital than it will likely take to get him. He's a phenomenal player, would be a huge asset for Sam, would be our best offensive weapon in decades but he's got a ton of miles on his legs, he's kind of an asshole and he could easily become Revis 2.0.
Bingo, this right here. Bell will win us games / provide talent to Sam to aid in his development, much more worthy of the pay than a run stuffing DL.
How can you not go hard after Mack, who would fill a position of desperate need this team has had since John Abraham, yet want to drop upwards of $70mil on a RB we don't need...doesn't make any sense to me.
Let’s not forget the compensatory 3rd rounder will be in 2020. That’s a 4th in 2019. No way I’m giving up more than that for a guy i can sign
Again he's holding out now when he shows up for week 10 you think he'll give max effort? Nah he'll h@lf @ss it to stay healthy/cash in during the offseason. Especially if he senses the Jets aren't serious about giving him what he wants. Only way it's worth it is if he gets a new deal when they make the trade.
Just wondering if we trade for him can we rescind the tag so he becomes a free agent since we will only have his rights and he has not sign the tag yet? If so have deal in place rescind tag sign the deal he wants then we don’t have to worry about him leaving next year or not playing hard. And if he backs out of deal before he signs new deal with us Steelers got no pick from us. Don’t know if that would work but him on one year deal scares me
Im not saying make the trade or dont. There are plenty of pros & cons.I lean towards no bc of the risk he walks after this year.If we can still recooperate a compensatory pick if he walks?Thats worth looking at. But really all i was doing was clarifying on the trade value. A 1st rounder for Bell would be a fireable offense given the circumstances
Le’Veon Bell has had a great benefit in Pittsburgh that he won’t get with the jets at this time, the Jets don’t have a Antonio Brown, Quincy is good but not Brown, Rothlesberger, maybe some day with Darnold but not yet and probably not this year, Pittsburgh always uses and gets great production from their tight end, we have 3 on the team every year and we get next to nothing. Le’Veon won’t be the Le’Veon we are used to seeing here, PASS
Way too many variables here. 1. Are you signing him to a new deal? If not, you risk losing him. 2. Is he even in game shape? You don't trade for a one year rental that won't be ready to play immediately. 3. What are the Steelers looking for in return? Anything more than a 3rd and I walk away from the table.
If we were to trade a 3rd then probably get a 3rd back in compensatory pick if he walks then we just drop a little in the 3rd to have Bell for the year. I'd be ok but it would have to be a conditional to a 7th if he plays less than 6 games.
If he gets traded, why assume he will even show up on his contract? That plus, is he really that great or is his line that great? It seems they haven't missed a beat without him.
As we found out Holmes was a midget JAG cancer. This guy looks like the real deal. 6'2 almost 230 lbs insane production. 321 carries 85 catches last season ya ain't getting that for a 5th round pick. If they want a great player they'll have to give up serious value.
holmes was a good player and far from a cancer for us, he just declined pretty rapidly. they traded him simple becuase they couldn't afford to pay him. Pitt outside of brown always lets WRs walk. they did it with plaxico, they did it with holmes, they did it with bryant. Pitt always seems to draft WRs really well to replace others. whoever their WR scout is, is excellent. Brown, ward, plaxico, holmes, juju, sanders, wallace. all have been good to excellent in their career. and each one replaced another. I mean they drafted sanders and brown in the same year using a 3rd and 6th rounder. they even let sanders walk as well. he was a SB MVP with 1250 yards his final season in pitt, and they traded him away. With Bell, they literally have 0 leverage right now. I can't see him going for much. maybe at most a 2nd or since we don't have a 2nd, 2 3rd rounders.
They can't trade him unless he signs the tag, he signs the tag he can't get a new contract until 2019. Unless this is for a 6th or 7th rounder I would pass. If he comes in week 10 he'll probably need a couple of weeks to get up to speed, that would leave 5 games before he is a FA.
you should hear how pitt fans feel about tomlin right now between the bell and brown situations, ben's on and off again retirement stuff, losing the locker room, and being 0-1-1 right now
