While everyone is going to destroy Bowls today. I want to rip Mr. Macc. Yes, Bowls sucks and should be fired if this season is bad. But, how does the GM survive? This team is mostly built on FA signings and trades, that wont work. His draft classes are horror shows and don't feel like annoying myself by looking at his 4 draft classes but you get the point. If Bowles goes, he has to go too, Opinions ?
His drafting has not been impressive overall and his belief that an OL can be built with mid round picks is concerning. That said, he hasn't reached in round 1 and has made some good trades. I'm on the fence. What's really needed is a President/Head of Football Ops who has a big picture vision on how to build the team and a proven track record.
Everyone loves Leonard Williams too. He gets doubled team etc. Has he really shown much? Can we get away from drafting defense when this game is changing to be more offensive. At the time we drafted him we had a boatload of dtackles. Crazy. Jamal Adams looks like a player. Marcus Maye the curse of the 2nd round pick for us. For one year we thought we ended that run. Darron Lee. Enough said. Still have 13 games but Mac might be joining Bowles. We'll see.
Neither will go. Christopher Johnson is probably in the process of extending Bowles and Mac for 3 more years as we speak!
While I like most of what Mac has done in FA, he has not drafted well. I also don't think the team is in a great shape for the future, as we have a lot of one year rentals. We will have cap space next year no doubt, but we will need to resign a lot of players, from a team that isn't going to win many games......If we let them walk, we are looking at a few comp picks, in the 2020 draft. The rebuild should be done by 2020. I don't see it. I don't necessarily want him gone, as he has done some good things for the team (mostly he convinced the owners to rebuild). He wasted two years trying to win, let's at least give him 2 to rebuild.
and until the Johnsons realize this, this franchise will never amount to anything other than a footnote at the end of most seasons.
I am willing to give him two more seasons. He can unfuck this sorry OL in one of the years, and address the edge rusher in the other. I don't see that happening next year.
his drafting is above average. people just don't see that because they only focus on our team and not the NFL as a whole and expect every player to be a pro bowler as a rookie.
Seriously... I just want to be sick thinking about yet another wasted season. This team could and should be winning. A competent coach has em 3-0 easily.
I'm running out of throwaway seasons Axel. Seen far too many of them over the decades. That's why I don't take The Jets seriously anymore without ironclad proof they are indeed progressing. 2018 is shaping to be no different than any of the other seasons where the team did nothing and was proud of it.
