1...He is a Chad supporter. he says that the Jets are doing well because of Chad, and Chad makes Mangini look good. 2.. How many times did the Packers rush game hurt the Jets today?
Ahman Green had 102 yards on 14 attempts. If we hadn't been running away with the score, their running game would have killed us.
We were playing off the line with less blitzes. There is no doubt in my mind that the packers get now where near that many rush yards if we're not up by 30.
The only bad things to take away from that game are: (1) Nugent's kickoffs are weak (2) J-Mac losing battles for the ball (3) Punt returns need work (4) Schlegel sucks Otherwise, everything seems good.
Keep in mind Nugent had the ball being held for him the whole game. Might affect it. Don't agree with the J-Mac complaints, although I wanna see the plays again. Punt returns have been bad all year, although that was a hell of a return by Poteat. Try him? Dwight hadn't done crap, now he's out anyway. Schlegel made some bad plays but it's too early for that.
The Packers got their rushing yards the same way we did against Jacksonville. Combined with a couple of plays where Green got loose. Looks worse on paper than it actually was.
Judging by what? The monster way we've been showing up against the run this year? Face it, if our gameplanning isn't able to overcome our weaknesses early on, we always give up huge chunks of ground yardage when it counts. The Packers took what we gave them early on and passed more than they ran, and we were able to take a big lead early. Teams won't (and haven't) always done it and that's when we end up having to rely on Chad. We didn't have to lean on him so heavily today and he was allowed to get into a rhythm after a slow start, and we ran away with it. We still have weaknesses and they will be exploited by well-coached teams at times.
The D looked fine with the run in the 1st to me. I think when we give away mediocre chunks on the ground, all that does is eat clock for us. I dont think the D would've been as soft if we did not have a 30pt lead. I really dont. When we have a huge lead on our opponent, and still eat a ton of clock even when we dont have the ball, is impressive to me.
I have to admit that the interior of the defense does look better in past weeks, but they are still not holding the gaps well enough and Vilma has been invisible. I don't think we're in the bottom third of the league as far as run defense anymore, but it is still the weakness of our defense. When you give up certain areas of the field and the opposing coordinator bites, it is less the efficiency of your players than the efficiency of your gameplan.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't 3-4 ILB supposed to be more in the mold of a role player, while the 3-4 OLB get the sacks and the glory? I think Vilma's doing fine in the position, considering the fact that hes the defensive captain and does a great job in providing leadership and directions to the rest of the D.
D rob has improved drastically and our linebackers have become more aggressive. As a result, We are seeing an overall improvement in the run D. But we still lack size in the front 3..and Kimo is still getting knocked off the ball on many occassions. To me, this is the D's biggest weakness...and hopefully it can be addressed this offseason. But you are right...well coached teams that recognize this..will run right at Kimo w/ a ton of success.
i hate threads about trolls... thats just giving them glory. How long has it been since hes been posting here? He's been quite since the offseason i think and when there is so much to talk about he comes up lol
