I don't think it was a bad throw at all. If Pryor finishes the route he makes the catch. He was open, I'm not sure where you're getting that from:

He had a step on the defender and was in front of him until he gave up on the route. Maybe the defender could have still reached across and knocked it away but the throw and decision was fine. As Manish points out there were two other options but Sam still went with a good one.

If he ran his route completely it would've been a contested throw/TD, not an INT. Still all on Pryor.

first time i've seen this (i was driving and had the radio on during this play)

seems like it's on Pryor to me, that route seemed sloppy and shallow. Shouldve made a harder cut and undercut the defender, and his big body could've easily bodied the CB out of position

    IMO

If he waited a little bit longer, could of had Robby it looks like, he wasn't under pressure yet. Darnold made the right read. 1 on 1 at the top, Pryor wins that and its a TD

Lol its just nuts that nobody on the training staff thinks he can substitute a little speed with more mass. And yes fuck kiko

Yep yep and yep. I was at the game sitting 10th row in the other endzone so I couldn’t see shit. Seeing this now from the broadcast angle... man it’s so annoying. That should have been a massive momentum changing TD.

I think the throw could have had a little less lead on it, but if Pryor stays in the play, it's not likely an int. That's the problem with being hard and true about where you anticipate the receiver to be. Sometimes he isn't.

Especially when he's not a true WR

Pryor tried to run up on the defender to get him backpedaling but the DB broke to the inside because he was reading Darnold's eyes. Sam expected an earlier break and Pryor broke late, but the correct read was actually Anderson who got behind the LB's and was wide open.

Yeah a lot of this stuff will clear up, hopefully with more experience and more time to throw.
That throw away that QE almost snatched was an even bigger killer.

Just a lot of rookie mistakes all around and skrine being skrine. Fucking can't deal with him anymore

Anyone who watched that game live should know that was 100% on Pryor.

It may not have been a completion, but it was an interception because of Pryor. Did Darnold have other options open? It seems that way. But that's all irrelevant because he threw it to Pryor.

They need to get some plays for leggett. You watch his college film and that dude can catch. I can only imagine he's either not blocking well or isn't quite up on the play book, but he's been Mia.

These two plays indicate that Sam is only seeing half the field.
Part of this is by design; you want to limit the amount of decisions your rookie QB has to make, but it also means he'll simply not see some guys who are open.

Perhaps but with more time he can scan the entire field. I get it, they want the ball gone sooner rather than later, but at some point, to be successful in this game they're going to have to extend.

A kid's 2nd game facing a much better defense than he did his first..... of course he made some mistakes. There will be more to come, especially if he continues to see that kind of pressure.
Imagine if Sanchez faced that his 2nd game?

There are definitely throws from yesterday you can get on Darnold for. This wasn’t one of them.

A lot of people played poorly on Sunday. Darnold was no exception. If you saw Mark Sanchez play, than you saw Sam play yesterday. Cue fans to make excuses for every mistake Darnold made.

He still has a lot of developing to accomplish. We are the only team this season foolish enough to not develop our young QB (youngest ever!). Heck even Buffalo tried to wait. Look at Mahomes who didn't get his first start until week ten as a rookie. That should have been us with Darnold. Still hoping he can learn on the fly but its not the best scenario for him to be in. Too much pressure on him to carry the load, too much to learn too fast, too soon to be starting. People who want the truth to be only what makes them feel good can lynch me for this post. But we should start McCown on Thursday.

Put Sam back to school and slow things down for him. Otherwise we may end up with perhaps a slightly better Sanchez.

The throws Darnold made yesterday with pressure was better then anything I saw from Mark Sanchez his rookie year. Darnold didn't need to sit and you can see he's out there making a lot of great throws and putting this team in situations to win games despite the errors throughout the game by the receivers, and line.

Please don't compare the two. Mark probably would've had his classic 3 4 INT game. Darnold fights back, Sanchez did not.
