Outperforming the predictions does absolutely nothing for the team. If you listen to Bowles own words that his goal is to get to the Super Bowl, everything else is secondary. Mind you his own words, so I will say they vastly underperformed and underachieved. The team has not progressed.
More like 6 in 18 years. Woody bought the team in 2000. Playoffs in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2010. This is the longest playoff drought in Jets history. I think the fans are not delusional and just frustrated.

You may get away with kidding yourself that they were only supposed to win one game, or even three, but you can't fool everybody else. There was no magic - they did what they were supposed to do, according to the real experts - those who put their money where their mouths are. There's your problem right there - you don't know what an expert is. Writers are paid to attract eyeballs. Whether the target is a written page, a television show or a webpage, the guys are paid to attract, and keep attention. They don't get evaluated on the accuracy of their predictions. Experts, in this case, are guys who are paid based on how much money they directly make for their employers or themselves by collecting money from bettors - the guys who set the odds. Last year, depending on the source, the Jets were forecast on most books to win four or four and a half games, a few hit five exactly. They "outperformed" by nothing to a whole game. Great. Without a coaching change Jets fans are doomed to wander through NFL mediocrity forever.

No doubt it’s put up or shut up time for head coach. I thought last year was the first time a Bowles team look prepared week in and week out. I am still not happy with his game management and deminer on the sideline but I have sensed a different attitude on the sideline so let’s hope it’s real. I want to see a smart aggressive coaching style and him get in someone’s face on the sideline if they fuck up. Hes from the parcells coaching tree so how bout showing it Todd !!!!
