This reminds me of the year going back to the Sanchez days when we didn't score a single TD at all in pre-season & in the first game of regular season we blew the doors off Buffalo with Hill having 2 TD receptions. Never trust the preseason! This is why I am not expecting Sam to be a world beater his first game.....it's a whole new ball game in regular season & may take a while to adjust.
Big plays is a potential issue for the Jets secondary. They tended to allow some big plays in the past (even did so in pre-season) and we know Matthew Stafford will try some bombs. Really need to defend well against that Monday Night to get a win. I think it has improved but they will need to show it in a real game.
The D needs to control the run and the middle of the field. It will higher scoring than we think on both sides. We will keep it close. Please, please, please no prevent defense.
20-15 jets. Run game is adequate sam hits some big plays while being mostly efficient. Stanford puts up good yardage but settles for field goals. Both teams get one turnover.
He seemed to be trying to hard to be like Belichick this offseason. Manginiesque. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...icia-danger-losing-players-running/686349002/
The lack of pressure from our front during the PS is concerning, but our defense is blitz heavy like it was under Rex. Expecting heavy dosages of the blitz in all 16 games this season.
Bookies have us as 6 1/2 point underdogs...which in the NFL is huge Praying Mr Mac comes through for Sam to keep him SAFE But this is a 10 point LOSS imo
Last year we struggled with both forcing turnovers and creating interceptions ranked 21st with only 11 INT's. With a much improved Secondary fearing two #1 CB's in Trumaine Johnson and Morris Claiborne (who now matches up against opposing #2's, Buster Skrine returning to his natural position of Nickel Back (on the inside against opposing slot's) combined with the fact that both Marcus Maye and Jamal Adams are no longer rookies @ FS/SS etc... And i predict that we'll pick-off a QB with a career of Interceptions (118) at least two and possibility three times; while Matthew Stafford himself has a shit QB Rating against this Defense. We're going to see an Arizona like Secondary with all types of excotic blitz packages and coverage disguises on full display. I don't see them running the ball on us neither. Or scoring anything more than 1 TD and/or more than 16 points against us.
You'd be remiss if you didn't at least acknowledge Belichick benching Malcolm Butler had a big impact on the Pats pass defense being so poor in the Super Bowl vs the Eagles.
It's so hard to win on the road any week for this coaching staff. Only the Browns (1-23) and 49ers (5-19) have been worse than the Jets (7-17) on the road since 2015. Our margin of "victory" on the road during this period is -8.7. Take away the Jets 2 combined road wins against the worst team in the league (Browns) during that span and the Jets are 5-17 on the road with Bowles as head coach. With that said in Bowles first season with the Jets when the Jets had a halfway decent offense (Fitzmagic) coupled with an above average defense the Jets were a 500 team on the road going 4-4. I know one of those road games was in London vs Dolphins, but it technically was a road game. We also beat the Giants on the "road" that season. Bottom line, this is Bowles best team since 2015, and the Lions are a soft home team. I expect a win. Last year Detroit split their 8 home games with a 4-4 record. He'll during Staffords career his record as a starter at Ford Field is a mediocre 35-28. Boys and girls, this isn't the Patriots or Seahawks we're playing on the road...It's the Lions.
The Lions are the better team and they are at home. I would be very surprised if the Jets win. Your post is odd. you cite Bowles' abysmul road record and then yet still predict a victory. Stafford is a different, perhaps better Quarterback since Calvin Johnson retired. He spreads the ball around very effectively. QBs that spread the ball around always torch Bowles D. Its a bad matchup. If the Jets are going to win, its going to have to be in a shootout. I don't see Darnold putting up 30+ points on the road in his first game ever.
Yeah, and the Cheats still managed to pull it off. I can't even say the Cheats won the game. It's more like Atlanta gave it to them on a silver platter after completely collapsing. I dry heave every I think about it. And I just thought about it. Whaaaaaarrrrrfffff!!! As for Patricia, I want him to fail because he has Patriots stink on him. That's really all there is to it.
I'm talking about Nick Foles and Eagles! Don't bring up that horrendous Falcons game! Now I am going to get sick too! Maybe it had a big impact, but the whole defense was terrible. Almost lost to Blake Bortles the week before too. Just not sure I would give him a Head Coaching job after that.
