How can you say Macc is the best GM we've had? He hasn't gotten any talent onto this team. Everyone of his draft picks have underperformed and his free agency signings have not made any impacts. His UDFA signing is his best accomplishment but the bottom line is the team is losing every year. Something has to happen after this season especially if they have another losing season. Well, I'm pretty sure it will be a losing season Bowles is still here and Brady is still in our division.

Please, Boozer. Tell me who your favorite NFL GM has been over the past 30 years and I can shread their drafts to pieces as well.

All of his picks have underperformed?

The last time I checked guys like Leonard Williams made the Pro-Bowl, Jamal Adams 1st-team All-Rookie, Marcus Maye 2nd round gem, Robby Anderson one of the NFL's top deep threats, Darron Lee a starter coming off 90+ tackles as only a 2nd year kid, Brandon Shell a starting RT with promise and although not a star Jenkins is becoming a solid edge setter etc and Nathan Shepherd could end up being a gem.

    Stop it.

Maybe if you understood the meaning of player development you wouldn't make these outlandish and bold statements when mostly all of draft picks have yet to enter their 3rd years and anyone with Football knowledge not only knows but also understands the value of an NFL 3rd year.

And P.S: Traded up to land us the #1 QB prospect since Andrew Luck in Sam freaking Darnold.

Claiborne didn't make an impact as our #1 CB?

Josh McCown didn't help as a veteran stop gap?

    DeMario David didn't impact?

Kelvin Beachum didn't help us at LT last year?

All of his free agent's have "sucked" now?

Absolutely pathetic to say these outlandish remarks.

And Boozer. What. You're also going to ignore the fact that Macc just landed us the #1 CB in Trumaine Johnson?

Upgraded our Center position with Spencer Long over last year's 32nd rated Center in Wesley Johnson?

    Isaiah Crowell and Terrell Pryor?

Ignore Avery Williamson being rated as a top 5 IMLB last year? No mention?

    wow.

I remember when Sapp fell to us. We got lucky, drafted him, and set the tone for success for our Jets.

    Oh wait...We fucked up.

Truly think the jury is still out on Mac.
I agree with OP in the fact just about every first rounder fell to us and just about anyone of us or GM could have made the same choice. However, you need to give him probs for making the trade to 3 to be there. I thought it was a little risky not knowing who would fall but he had the stones to do it and it worked.

I am not buying the injury excuses - Devin Smith and Mauldin were just bad picks and his overall drafting record here overall is not very good. He has made some real shitty free agency decisions and few that have worked in the way they were intended,
I played offensive line and his failure to address it year in and year out to me is offensive.

Bottom line for me is with Sam if we are not ready to seriously compete by 2020 he has failed and needs to go.

So easy to say after the fact. But somehow 5 teams let Leo Williams, called by most the best player in the draft go by. Or two teams let Darnold called the best QB prospect since Luck go by them. So just stop with the after the fact I could have done this BS. Fact is no one even gives any of us a chance never mind the opportunity to make these picks for a reason. Every fan thinks they could draft from reading the papers. And then complains about picks that were made that you would never be able to make from reading those papers

Macc was a scout before getting hired as a GM. Now perhaps his DP's before the Jets could be looked at as some barometer of his talent evaluation prowess or lack thereof. While I have doubts about any hire Woody Johnson has made since he bought the team, in fairness we should give Macc until the end of his extension to finish his "plan" whatever that is. Same goes for Bowles although if the team continues to tread water at 5-11, 6-10, at what point do we decide to let the GM pick his next HC?

We surely have to expect a negative win column this season, it really isn't hard to see that the OL isn't right and as good as Darnald may become he isn't there yet, a long way from there more than likely but we have just put our foot on the start of something, we now have a QB that has a more than good chance to become something special and hopefully we build the squad around him in the next draft, step by step.

Do not go off the deep end when it doesn't start with three wins, think long term, it has already been long term for a lot of us but now, at last, we have the makings of a proper rebuild, starting last season, teams can't rebuild overnight, I still feel another 5-11 style season and secure another high draft pick will see us in better light over the next three seasons or so.

I said it in another thread C. Just wait until we go 6-10 and Chris Johnson talks about "progress", "improvement", "patience", no playoff mandate and GM and HC extensions. You know it's coming.

I'm the guy predicting 5-11 although I'd view 6-10 or 7-9 as improvement. Yes we might have our FQB, but we do not have our OL nor do we have our true homerun threat on offense in the backfield or in the WR corps. Our offense will scare no one. Our defense will keep us in games and with any luck, might contribute some points along the way. I will say this: if things go the way I have a suspicion they will, John Dorsey up in Cleveland will leapfrog Macc in the turn the team around contest. Dorsey had experience as a GM already so I guess that's not really fair.

Again, give Macc until the end of his extension and judge him on both his DP's and the team's record as that is a function both of the HC and the GM.

A playoff mandate in year two of a total rebuild would've been totally ridiculous and made no sense on any level
