I've never seen a LB, in the NFL at least, with such listless energy to his game as Lee. Even bad linebackers will get beat a lot but they have no problem attacking and aggressively throwing their bodies into traffic. Because that's what a linebacker does!!! Lee though, lets the other team dictate play and it's like he reluctantly goes after the ball carrier. I can't believe it

But if you ever watched Bart Scott play, he was the linebacker who would hit the guard in the mouth and blow up the run play while Ray Lewis and David Harris made the tackle. He was an excellent player for us, and yes, his career fell short, because while Ray Lewis was dancing around, Bart was hitting 300 pound lineman and stopping them in their tracks.
yes really. watch other teams play. People tend to focus only on our players and if they aren't all starts they think they suck or they compare them to the top 2-3 players in the NFL. If you watch other games you'll see lee is better then a lot of other starting ILBs

"Bart Scott". Wow. And PS: Ray Lewis was also pretty awesome as a Miami Hurricane turned 1sr round draft pick. Where oh where was your little "Bart Scott" then? And yes I did love the thought of Bart Scott heading into 2009 to play alongside of David Harris but by the time 2011 came around, I was highly disappointed in Bart Scott. Only two productive years as a Jet before becoming absolutely horrible his last two season(s) and impossible to watch as a Jet before early retirement; while Ray Lewis led his Ravens Defense to another SB back in 2012 (without Bart Scott, x2) all while Bart Scott himself sucked up the 2012 season (before offseason retirement). The only "troll" is the one disrespecting the NFL's greatest MLB of All-Time and one of the All-Time great Jets in order to attempt talking up "Bart Scott". Ray Lewis retired on top as a future HOF legend and Super Bowl Champion while Bart Scott ended his career at the bottom (and on his couch). Ray Lewis, Haloti Ngata & Ed Reed all made Bart Scott and please don't attempt to pretend otherwise. I think bart scott said it perfectly a few weeks ago about darron lee, he said something along the lines of explaining what an lbs job is vs a lead, to step up and take on the fullback, darron lee went outside to avoid the collision. he said he better drop his marbles or grab his bag.

How old is Mike, how old is Will, what year were they drafted, what round were the drafted, what colleges did they attend and what conferences are those colleges in? And can you compute some irrelevant percentages so we can get a true sense of how good, comparatively, they are?

Yeah, I made that comment a few posts back, I'm surprised it is still being discussed. I never said anything about Ray Lewis's play. I suppose I threw a dig at him as I do not like the individual, but he was a beast linebacker. Anyway, this guy is obviously trolling and I wish he would stop.

I personally can not wait for this kids 3rd year. Any knowledgeable Jets fan not only knew but also understood just how raw he was coming out as a former H.S quarterback with little experience overall as an NCAA LB. But he was drafted by Maccagnan due to his elite athleticism as an athlete, his untapped potential along with the fact that Lee was one of the key leaders for Ohio State's insane defense while also absolutely dominating an Alabama team during their bowl game to the tune of earning the Defensive Player of the Game award. To expect a Pro-Bowl, All-Pro or H.O.F ability on tape out of a rookie/second year kid just goes to show how many sharks we have within this fan base; extremely raw at IMLB but yet still put up and recorded 94 Tackles, 3 Sacks, 3 Passes Defended and 2 Forced Fumbles as only a raw 2nd year player and more importantly showed much improvement upon his rookie season. Once this game slows down for him mentally on an NFL level he will emerge as a household name. 2018 he'll begin to play as he did for Ohio State and 2018 he's going to make his NFL mark as a 3rd year pro. He'll have well over 100+ tackles and at least 5 sacks as a 3rd year breakout player for our Jets defense (especially once Todd Bowles unleashes exotic blitz packages due to a re-vamped Secondary). Darron Lee is going to shine.
I am still hopeful he will. I thought he was probably the BPA at our pick in what is turning out to be a poor draft class. I think because he was a first rounder expectations of him are higher. He would be a 2nd rounder in a better draft class and that would have changed our perspective on him. He is a prototypical player for Bowles' defense and he's got to learn from Davis and now Williamson.
