Awesome. Thanks for sharing the post NC, it was great. I'm a super fan of Teddy and I think he totally deserves a starting role. He is a class act. The Jets went from no real solution at QB to having two great candidates in one year. Both classy, outstanding citizens. We are blessed and I give Mac a lot of credit for the moves. Having said that, Teddy will in all likehood be a starter in this league next year. Mac must walk a tight rope trying to balance current value to us this year versus trade value. While I would hate to see him go, particularly to the AFC, a first and an OL or rusher from Jacksonville is extremely tempting. If nothing else we stick a fork to NE, who would be the worst possible destination for Teddy next year if we loose him. We hold the best hand right now, but we need to play it right or someone else will out draw us.
Not to root for injury but unfortunately no other starting QB has gone down yet (2 more games today) and it’s unlikely anyone goes down next week so it’s likely Teddy starts the season as a Jet until someone goes down. I’m good with that.
Does the signing of John Wolford mean anything more than him just being a camp body to take snaps in Game 4? Could there be something in the works with moving TB, and the Jets go with Sam, McCown, and Wolford? I guess we'll soon find out.
Probably a good live arm for game 4. But, but, but, in the event that a deal is brewing for Teddy, I don't think they would want to risk playing him over a meaningless game. Just saying.
Assuming Teddy plays most of the first quarter and then Wolford comes in and hands off or makes short throws for the rest of the game.
One team in particular that seems to have an absolutely appalling backup situation all things considered to me are the Rams. I was watching those backups fumble around the other day. My god they are in bad shape if Goff goes down. I'd say they'd be in worse shape than the 2017 Jets with Hack and Bryce Petty and at least with the Jets it kind of didn't matter since they weren't Super Bowl contenders. The Rams are in anything but rebuilding mode right now.
If I was the GM and there is no trade currently in place, I'd still want to sign a 4th QB so Teddy doesn't have to play the entire game. So he doesn't get hurt and doesn't harm his trade value if he plays poorly early. The Jets 4th string offensive line might as well be comprised of a couple guys in the stands. I don't see how it can possibly help teddy to play with some of the worst players he's played with in a while.
I live down here in Miami, and I am hearing A LOT today about the Dolphins seeking a trade with us for Bridgewater. Miami was originally interested in him in the off-season until he wanted a $15 million one year deal. I would be VERY upset if we traded him to Miami. That would be a dumbass move, in my opinion
Tannehill is under contract for two more seasons after the current one and with no real cap savings to speak of. If they gave up a 1st round pick I think I would want to roll the dice on that one. I don't see them locking up Teddy long term and if they did they would have about 25% of their cap tied up on 2 QBs. Right now they have $6M in cap space for next year so don't see them keeping him past this season if they made the move.
This would be almost as bad as Chad playing for the Fins. Hold out for 2 weeks and maybe someone goes down.
Well I wasn't exactly ready to jump on the wagon of a Bridgewater trade to the Phins but if they dangled a 1st rounder. Of course having Tannehill at $25M-$26M a year and then extending Teddy for $15M-$20M a year would be very Tanny like.
If no trade is reasonable and Teddy stays the entire season and we lose him at the end of the year, I'm okay with that. Just having his presence in the clubhouse and quarterback room will be a benefit for the team and Darnold. He's calm, he's mature, he's professional, and after what he's been through he will help his teammates keep things in perspective when the road gets bumpy - and it will.
Well thats kind of the thing.Tannenbaum doesnt exactly hold draft picks close to the vest if it means nabbing a player they really want.If Darnold & Allen really pan out & Tannehill doesnt elevate his play the Phins are in a really rough spot next offseason.Bridgewater helps w their supposed locker room issues & gives them a potential FQB at the limber age of 25.I think a 1st rounder is the starting point to the Jets even listening to Miami.
I don't expect darnold or mccown to play. darnold becuase rest your starter and mccown becuase he hans't really played all pre-season. I expect teddy to play pretty much the whole game. maybe wolford gets in the 4th quarter or if teddy was to get hurt they wouldn't want to risk darnold or mccown in game 4 of preseason
Ive got a funny feeling Bowles is gonna play Darnold bc he seems determined to expose him to as many situations as possible & otherwise he’ll be showing his hand on who the week 1 starter is which he seems vehemently opposed to doing. I dont agree w it but think Darnold gets at least 2 drives
