Not sure where ODB came from, lol. OBJ just signed a 5 year $95 Mil extension, $65 mil guaranteed. Highest paid WR in NFL.
Will be interesting to see if this changes the narrative for players in the future regarding holding out versus showing up for camp. Clearly the only thing the Giants had to worry about with respect to him was him being a head case, and him showing up and keeping his mouth shut was obviously the smartest possible thing he could do. The question will be whether he reverts back to being an unstable idiot once he has the $65 million in this pocket.
Or how happy all will be 2 years from now paying him all that money and having no one to throw him the ball and the Giants are feeding Barkley the ball. How pissed well ODB be when he sees Darnold lighting it up?
First thought when I read the title was “ I thought ole dirty bastard was dead” The giants won’t be contending for much over the next 5-7 years so really don’t care.
Given that contract he could be singing ... Cash Rules Everything Around Me C.R.E.A.M. get the money Dolla dolla bill y'all
dam ton of money but well deserved for a top 3 WR in the NFL. Fun fact in 2019 eli and odell will combine for over 40 mil of cap space more then 20% of the total cap on 2 players
He's good, but I feel a little overpayed making more than Antonio Brown. He's younger and very talented, but has baggage.
that's how contracts work. doens't matter that brown is better, market goes up every year and if you are a top 5 player at your position (which odell is) you'll be the highest paid when you sign your deal regardless
Yeah, no doubt. My argument centers around his off field issues, though. I didn't think he should be a top paid guy, mostly for that reason. If something goes down and he has another Josh Norman type incident, he could very well miss significant time due to suspension. It's a risk, but he's an elite receiver so I can see it.
