Exactly. Because he's only 23 yerars young and/or not, 27 years old (you just made my point, thank you kindly, sir).
K Mack is under contract this year. ( what do Raiders have to negotiate ). He either plays this year for 13.8 million, or he sits out for how many checks he wants to miss.
With Aaron Donald set to get $22 million per year, with as much as $80 million guaranteed, I'm gonna double down and guarantee Mack is getting traded this off-season. Raiders won't want to pay Mack his market value. Mike Florio is reporting the Raiders are not slamming the door on the possibility of trading Khalil Mack, and that four teams, are exploring the possibility very seriously. The Jets are likely one of those four teams. Bottom line: MAKE MACK HAPPEN MAC!
Exactly this. I don't understand the people saying Mack will not, without a doubt get traded. I'm not saying it's even likely to happen, but you really can't even understand why it could happen?!? The Raiders are going to have to pay Derek Carr at some point in the next 2-3 years. Big money if he keeps playing the way he is. The way the QB market is going, he will fetch over $30 million/year which is on par with Kirk cousins and Matt Stafford except he's a lot younger and arguably has a higher ceiling than either. They need that cap room and Mack complicates things. That's the issue with so many QB loaded teams, it's hard to fit a franchise QB and a franchise player in the same cap. The Jets right now have their franchise QB on a rookie contract for the foreseeable future with a ton of room in the cap to make it work. The Raiders cannot keep tagging him for years to come for multiple reasons. One, they probably can't afford the tag when Carr's contract is imminent and two, he will likely hold out because he knows he has leverage to be traded for the money he wants. If the Raiders feel like they can't give him the money he wants, he is likely to walk in free agency, at which point, the Raiders will look at each other dumbfounded and wonder why they didn't accept a kings ransom before they settled for a 3rd round comp pick.
Again Mack isn't getting traded this year . ( he's under contract, he either plays for 13.8 million or he sits out.). If the Raiders don't want to sign him longterm , than they will trade him by the 2019 NFL draft. Trading him now doesn't help the 2018 Raiders.( only way I see them trading K Mack now if someone offers a young proven starting offensive tackle now, and high draft pick in 2019. Donald Penn leg doesn't look right. ( coming off lisfranc injury- Carr goes down they are done ) . The Raiders have four good looking young tackles prospect( K Miller - will start at one tackle position, D Sharpe, Brandon Parker, and Jylan Ware. Problem is Sharpe, Parker, and Ware probably a year away from being ready.( also don't want to play two inexperience players at tackle .( not with pass rushers in that division. Second the Jets aren't getting Mack( after this season) because the Jets and Raiders aren't a match player wise, and the Jets wouldn't want to give the draft package it would take to get Mack. Most logical team to get K Mack if he's traded is the Packers. They have two first round picks in 2019.
The Packers have the draft capital but no team is giving up TWO ones and then signing him to $80million gauranteed.
Which is a big reason why they may not keep Khalil Mack long term (kind of his point without having the details correct).
Not surprising that some would think the above bolded statement makes any sense Saying they can't sign one player because they will have to sign the QB long term, when they already have that QB signed long term, was wrong. The future cap hits are already accounted for with the QB contract so they know what room they have under the cap.
Then tell me why they haven't extended him long term yet and he's missed the entire offseason, training camp, preseason and still holding out... Is it because Oakland can not afford him or is it because Khalil Mack is not worth it at 27 years old?
I've made valid points why Mack is going to be traded this off-season, and while doing so another report comes out from Mike Florio that suggest the Raiders are listening to 4 teams seriously considering a trade for Mack. They can't afford Mack for the kind of money Aaron Donald is likely getting. I never once said I guarantee the Jets trade for Mack, but it's a strong possibility it could happen. When your wrong about Mack getting traded you can change your account name to ProbsToPlay.
I disagree that Parker is a good tackle prospect. He played his college ball here in NC. Since the Jets needed an OT, I did a lot of reading on him. I was glad the Jets didn't draft him.
Assuming the price is a 1 and a 2 like the anonymous VP says in this article, we may be dicked here...
