No need to close this thread.

Tom Landry: 9-28 after first 3 years (.243%).

Chuck Noll: 12-30 after first 3 years (.285%).

Weeb Ewbank: 13-22 after first 3 years (.371%)

Marv Levy: 19-29 after first 3 years (.395%).

Jimmy Johnson: 19-29 after first 3 years (.395%).

Dick Vermeil: 18-26 after first 3 years (.409%).

Bill Belichick: 20-28 after first 3 years (.416%). Same exact record as Todd Bowles.

Bill Walsh: 21-27 after first 3 years (.437%).

Mike Shanahan: 16-20 after first 3 years (.444%).

Bill Parcells: 22-25 after first 3 years (.468%).

    All speak for itself.

And so does two bust QB's in Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg along with two career loser JAG QB's in Ryan Shitztragic (48-70) (.406%) and Josh freaking McCown (23-50) (.315%).

Not to mention the roster purge in which he's been forced to coach under since day one, consisting of roster turnover after roster turnover all while his GM hasn't really been in position to draft him an O-Line or a top rated pass rushing outside/edge rusher.

    It's just funny to me.

The Jets are so close to having rebuilt themselves from the ground up for the first time in my fanhood. They’re finally ignoring media/fan pressure to “win-now” and building something that’s sustainable in the long term at the expense of wins in the short term.

I hate the phrase “same old Jets” but firing Mac and/or Bowles at this point would fall directly under that category. Can we wait out to see what the vision was before passing a final judgement? This is the first year where any success or failure can be fully attributed to this regime rather than partially to their predecesors. Let’s see how it goes.

What ever happened to the cess pool thread where all bad threads would get dumped?

    Agreed x1000.

This fan base has been calling for exactly what's happening for years. Now that it is taking place, some are now complaining about the process.

Firing Bowles or Mac at this point would be catastrophic, in my opinion. You can't cut the head off the beast while also trying to build the lower half. Mac is slowly putting all the pieces in place to build a roster that wins year after year, and here we are with some still complaining.

The talent Bowles has been given has been pretty rough. It is now just starting to turn and he potentially now has a franchise QB.

Excellent post and I don't even believe that 2018 can be used as an example of future success or not.

Both Maccagnan and Bowles have worked like dogs since arriving day one and now, come the offseason they'll be sitting on the league's most available cap space of any other team (with Sam Darnold having a season under his belt).

Next year, 2019; is the season in which we'll begin to able to see Todd Bowles potential as a head coach.

And all signs point to Maccagnan landing us an outside/edge rusher through free agency ala inquiring about both Khalil Mack and Dante Fowler Jr. And then, we'll be able to see Bowles and his exotic blitz packages with an elite Secondary behind a real NFL pass rush.

    (Some fans are simple minded).

I really hope this is a joke lol

    Jamal Adams 22
    Robby Anderson 25
    Leonard Williams 24
    Quincy Enunwa 26
    Elijah Mcguire 24
    Darron Lee 23
    Marcus Maye 25
    Jordan Jenkins 24

And if Darnold starts, which he likely will, he will be 21 years old and the youngest starting QB in Jets history.

Cj essentially signed off on a 2 year plan starting this year. The fire everyone crowd really needs to come to grips with the fact that nothing will happen prior to the end of the 2019 season.

I have my doubts about Bowles being the guy who will lead us to a Super Bowl, but will reserve judgement until after the 2018 season ends. Is he gonna improve like those other coaches after his first 3 years or is he who he is? We're about to find out.

I feel so much better when I see Bowles having the same record as Bill Belichick in his first 3 years as a head coach. Wins and losses are all you need to look at.

This thread is like a shitty math problem. Where is statjeff22 when you need him. Personally, I liked Ross Perot with his pie charts much better. At least they were entertaining.

I've said it before. Bowles was the most viable choice at the time, and getting trigger happy on canning him . . . and hire WHO in his place? Bowles must go! No-one wanted to come here in the first place so if he got jettisoned, who is his replacement, the ball boy? Again, no-one wanted to come here. Now that we have Sam Darnold, that last part could very well change. Maybe someone comes out of retirement, maybe we get a fresh face, maybe some decent personnel moves happen, maybe someone in a better than decent coaching capacity will have an interest. You can't just fire someone and hire someone else who is probably worse when the coaching candidate pool is thin. I have issues with Bowles, but this line of thinking has and will continue to be stupid.

Let's see how the season develops. I don't care all that much what our record is this year. I mean, I care, but I don't really care in the grand scheme of things in the present tense. I'm far more concerned about Sam not getting physically demolished before 2019 than I am about Todd Bowles' job in 2018.
