But yet all you see around here are knee jerk reactions to a meaningless preseason scrimmage consisting of doom and gloom "the sky is falling" the "season is over" types of post's. It's unbelievable. There are only two things that matter during meaningless preseason practice scrimmage's consisting of vanilla play calling (on both sides of the ball). 1.) Players gain a better feel for the speed of the game before heading into a new season... & 2.) Players remain healthy and avoid injuries while heading into a new season... It's really that simple. Philadelphia: 0-3. Seahawks: 0-3. Falcons: 0-2. Cowboys: 0-2. Tennessee: 0-2. I wonder if those fan bases are now crying with doom and gloom, knee jerk reactions and "season is over before it started" types of post's. Unbelievable. The Patriots looked like complete dog shit during their 14-25 loss to the Panthers last night. Teams such as the Steelers, Jaguars, Saints and Rams are all "only" .500 teams thus far. Browns just beat the Philadelphia Eagles lol. Guess their seasons are all "over before they started" as well. I'm sorry. But it's just absolutely laughable to see so many doom and gloom along with knee jerk reactions consisting of "the sky is falling", "season is over before it's started", "cry me a river" types of post's; as if preseason games aren't meaningless scrimmages consisting of vanilla play calling in order to catch players up to the speed of the game to begin with.... Someone had to say it.
You are so right. It’s preseason. I don’t give a crap about the wins and losses as they don’t count for shit. It’s preparation time.
I watched the Browns game they have a defense that will destroy teams I'll tell ya one thing we would lose 24 - 10 against them
I do agree that the preseason wins and loses mean nothing but do you think that miraculously our offensive line and pass rushers will appear week 1?
if they can get down from 13 to 8 penalties a game by week four they will be fine,,,,,this could be a very long year
How could we have drafted D in the first round 9 years in a row and not have a single pass rusher !?!
for me its not about the score its the fact that our first/second stringers were playing worse than the other teams third and fourth stringers
and the penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties, penalties.
Yeah, pre-season games are meaningless, but they're not meaningless in the sense that suspected and known weaknesses are confirmed exponentially. We all knew our OL was bad, we all knew STs were horrendous . . . and both were confirmed exponentially. I do NOT want to see Sam Darnold until the latter half of the year even if he screamingly wins the job. I also don't really give two frigs what other teams records are in the pre-season. I'm just concerned about that what the Jets LOOK like on the field, win or lose. Sam looked very good, the rest of the team - including the secondary - looked like JV.
Defense Wins Championships?. Not with Bowles at the helm we won't. Scores in pre season don't mean shit, agree, but how you execute and how well prepared and disciplined the team is surely tells you something. We look like the keystone cops, and we don't have a history of doing better during the season. So let stop the BS comparisons to NE, or Atlanta or the Eagles for pre season performance. We will soon know how pre season translates to the season, and if we fail again to field a team that is at least disciplined and plays hard, apparently we will blame it on lack of talent once again, but never on incompetent coaching. It's time to fix the root cause, not the excuses.
This is purty much what I'm sayin'. There's a fine line between hysteria and reasonableness, but I don't think being horrified by some things that have nothing to do with vanilla play-calling is unreasonable. Our STs should be shot execution style. It's ridiculous to think this isn't going to cost us dearly during the season.
Pay attention and follow closely... Last year's preseason (2017): Patriots: 1-3. Buffalo: 1-3. Tennessee: 1-3. Falcons: 0-4. But yet, all finished with winning records and made the postseason... Last year's preseason (2017): Philadelphia: 2-2. Minnesota: 2-2. L.A Rams: 2-2. Panthers: 2-2. Saints: 2-2. Jacksonville: 2-2. Kansas City: 2-2. But yet, all finished (well) above .500 and made the playoffs... Last year's preseason (2017): Browns: 4-0. Broncos: 4-0. Packers: 3-1. Dolphins: 2-2. Colts: 2-2. Jets: 2-2. Giants: 2-2. Bears: 2-2. Skins: 2-2. 49ers: 2-2. But yet, all finished (well) below .500 and missed the postseason. And suddenly you realize and understand how meaningless preseason games truly are (when in regards to the up coming season). One thing that is good about meaningless preseason practice scrimmages consisting of watered down and vanilla play calling, is that it does help to differentiate the knowledgeable footballl fans; from that of the knee jerk and absolutely clueless types of one's...
What is actually laughable is how some people continue to ignore this truth and put up straw men about preseason W-L records. NO ONE cares about who wins or loses an exhibition game, but to act like consistently incompetent performance in precisely the areas where the team has been incompetent for years is meaningless is utterly moronic.
My man, my main man. I can flip this around. Remember when the Jets went 5 - 0 in the pre-season? How'd that turn out? IT WAS THE PRE-SEASON, BUT THE JETS BLEW PINEAPPLE CHUNKS ALL YEAR LONG. It was mostly because the other 5 teams were decently stacked and just threw scrubs out there to see if anyone shined. We kind of know what we have to a large degree, and some of it is this side of oy vey.
