1 Sam Darnold looked pretty good, not amazing. he made some good throws, but also some completions that he made were high throws

    2 the oline sucks.

3 the defensive secondary looks like overpaid overhyped crap. adams needs to shut up and Tru needs to wake up

    4 run defense is amazing

5 TE squad is also overhyped

    6. special teams just die already. westhoff is rolling over in his bed tonight

7 lee and leo finally woke up tonight. stay woke

8 cannon is a game loser if he catches a ball above his head

    9 tomlinson go away

10 those refs are sleeping with Kate and Rooney Mara tonight

Those Darnold throws weren't too high, he floated them over the defenders. When you got a beast like Q, you can make those throws.

I agree with you about the secondary. I cant see Leo cashing in at the end of his rookie deal. He is sufficient but not a game changer. Tomlinson had a bad game...but he is usually reliable...he deserves a pass.
Adams...im still shaking my head. He doesn't shut up...he is doing well in run support when he's not wiffing on tackles. Im still waiting for him to "make a play."
O-line looked good on the scoring drive...seemed like receivers were not getting seperation or Sam was overprocessing or looking for wide open receivers like he had in college.
I saw highlights of him threading the needle...they have to encourage him to let it fly...its preseason...dont be concerned about the naysayers or interceptions..

Interesting quote by Bowles last night after the game. Somebody asked him why Darnold is only throwing short throws for the most part and there have been literally no deep shots. His answer was something to the affect of, "we call some different plays during these games, and some different plays during practice." Can this honestly be them just keeping things close to the vest to not have any of their "big play" calls on tape before week 1?

Im confused why no one is talking about the fact Teddy was staring down receivers from the second the ball was snapped? Then did nothing but check down all game

It would be nice if they called at least 1 deep ball to test it out, I am shocked.

Quincy had a really good block on the Powell TD. Having him back will hopefully bring a boost to our run game.

Yeah that's why I posed it as a question. I wonder if its possible for that to be true. It would be nice to run one or two in the preseason to give him a shot to at least show off his arm once. He's already showed off his QB mind and accuracy. Just once.

they say don't post when you're drunk, sleep on it and think it over before posting ... yup, and yup, my thoughts are still there :)

after the week one mirage reality has set in. I have come to the conclusion that with ZERO pass rush and a terrible OL we will win 6 games if we're lucky.

like a few posters said. the big money players are non existent. our tight ends are overhyped. our special teams um, no comment.

I was impressed with Neville Hewitt and Pryor, Powell will be just fine.

can I say one thing about the penalties ... there were 3 penalties we committed yesterday I never even heard of ...

the last time we scored a defensive or ST touchdown my grandmother was alive, and my son wasn't even born yet.

my conclusions ... I will never follow any sort of beat writer in camp its the same story every year with every team. every player is making plays in camp, and everyone is due for a breakout season, trash all trash ! same ole story over and over and over again ! hype its all fake hype

I had high hopes for the Jets this year. Nothing crazy, just maybe a 7 to 9 win team...then I watched last nights game.

This place really is the worst after a loss. I mean what were we expecting? It’s the preseason and we are playing with the rookie quarterback behind a banged up patchwork line and we want him to throw deep balls? We were expecting that awful patchwork offensive line to give him time and protection?

The big money guys didn’t show up? Like who? For as long as the pass rush is nonexistent, the secondary is going to have trouble covering their guys. Their ability and their salary has nothing to do with that. Anderson is probably not going to be much of a factor until we get the deep ball going and I wouldn’t expect that to be happening in game three of the preseason. Besides that, he had a first down grab and should have made another so it’s not like he wasn’t involved elsewhere.

I get it, it’s not exactly what we wanted to see. But if it’s anything other than what you expected to see, that’s kind of on you.

Guess the N.E Patriots season is also over all because of meaningless preseason games with vanilla play calling

We keep skirting the big elephant in the room. The main problem is poor coaching. Inconsistency, no one in the defensive side of the ball has been coached up to achieve full potential. Our so called vanilla schemes are pathetic against a vanilla offense. ST are the laughing piece of the equation. Simply unwatchable. The fucking CS should be the one running laps.
Sam is lights out better than any previous QBs and unless we are careful we will fuck that up to. Keep Bowles far away from Sam.

The truth about the first half:

A meaningless preseason practice scrimmage in which consisted of watered down vanilla play calling consisting of no key injuries.

The reason why preseason doesn't matter for the Pats is that there are 15 years of consistent performance in the games that count for them, so their level of talent and performance is not open to question. The opposite is true for the Jets. You seem to think that a complete lack of evidence that the Jets have addressed any of their ongoing serious problems (weak OL, no pass rush, awful special teams, lack of discipline) is somehow evidence that these problems have been addressed in some way, which is completely ridiculous. And how exactly was the special teams play calling "vanilla"? How exactly does "vanilla" play calling imply brainless false starts and offsides penalties? If the defense requires "exotic" (non-"vanilla") play calling to get to within 5 feet of the opposition quarterback how exactly is that an indicator of anything good? If the OL can't even be competent (let alone effective) at protecting the quarterback against "vanilla" opposition defenses how exactly does that suggest that they'll be effective when the other teams start trying harder and using defensive stunts?

And why is it that Darnold and Bridgewater playing well is somehow an indicator of good things, but almost everyone else playing either inconsistently or poorly is an indicator of nothing? If the Jets were getting 5 sacks a game and their QBs were getting 5 seconds to throw on every play this preseason I suspect you'd be singing a different tune.

The Pats only had 5 penalties in the entire game last night. The Jets had 9 in the first half. That's a bit disconcerting.
