I would trade our 1st for Mack in a heartbeat if we knew we could extend him. The Raiders obviously really don't want to trade him even though he is disgruntled but with Carr's contract they are really up against that cap. They will be in a situation like Pitt is with Bell doing 1 yr franchise tags on a guy who really wants a long term deal. This could create tension and further cap issues limiting free agent acquisitions. Long story even longer I think Raiders want more than one first round pick for reluctantly trading Mack. So one idea I have is maybe taking a play from the NBA trade book and taking on another contract to help ease the Raiders cap issues. Several candidates are possible but the one I like for the Jets is Donald Penn. Raiders don't really want him but can't cut him until next year. He is due over 8mil this year and 10 the next so I think they might be willing to move him with or without Mack. I'd do a 6th for him straight up since his contract is a little unfavorable. Say our 1st and 6th for Mack and Penn. Just an idea. In this scenario we would have already traded Teddy. Even though If it was my call I'd keep Bridgewater but seems like the Jets are set on moving him. Any thoughts? I know this would eat up our cap room this year but still have plenty to work with next year and helps solve our lack of pass rush and some of the OL issues.

Interesting. I like you out of the box thinking. I don't much about Penn, so can't speak to that aspect. Is he a LT? Is he good? It doesn't sound like it, but if so why would we want him protecting Darnold's blind side? If not, why would we want to trade our 1st round pick and not have it to take our future LT?

    True. True.

The more I think about it, the more I feel we should pass on both Mack/ Bell and...

A.) Draft a Franchide LT with our 2019 1st round pick

B.) Use our cap space on not one but two premium edge/outside pass rushers for example a duo of Dante Fowler Jr and Jadeveon Clowney. Or a combo of DeMarcus Lawrence/Ezekiel Ansah.

C.) Pray to the Football God's that Elijah McGuire can become the elite top 5 RB in which I've craved for since #28 Curtis Martin.

Two Pass Rushers and a Franchise LT and this fan base would go into a frenzy come the start of 2019.

With that said, hah; I wouldn't cry about landing either of Khalil Mack and/or Le'Veon Bell. I mean, how could you?

The Raiders might not have cap space this year, but will have 45 million in 2019( Easy get to 80 million cap space with couple of moves .( also going to Las Vegas no state income will save them a lot ).

The Raiders aren't trading Donald Penn . ( restructure contract would accelerate on this year Cap) . They have the best interior Oline in all of football.( Osemele, Hudson, and Jackson) Donald Penn is still one of the better LT in the league. ( coming off lisfranc injury).
An offense line of LT K Miller ( could be RT) ,Lg K Osemele , C R Hudson , RG Gabe Jackson and RT ( Donald Penn ( could be LT) Is one of the better offense lines In all of football.

The Raiders have a lot of young promising tackles ( K Miller( 1st rounder this year) , David Sharpe( fourth rounder last year) , Brandon Parker ( 3rd this year) and Jylan Ware ( seventh last year) .

The problem you don't want to break in two inexperience tackles at the same time especially with pass rushers in the Afc West. Why the Raiders signed our former garbage tackle B Giacomini.( just insurance as they needed some experience at tackle- once Penn proves to be healthy he gets cut).

The Raiders aren't trading K Mack under any circumstances this year. He should have a monster year in 2018. Reason the new DC ( ex Bengal DC) defense will force the offense to have to block him one on one.( think Viking defense) They added a lot of interior pass rushers this offseason( Pj Hall, M Hurst ) to go with Bruce Irvin( fulltime De now) , and Added promising pass rusher Arden Key to the mix.

Btw the Raiders could probably get the Packers two number 1 in 2019 for K Mack.( so why would they take your package- stop thinking as Jet fans that you're going to get something for giving up very little.

I'll take my chances that he doesn't get his shoulder torn up on a sack. There will be somewhere close to $100m to spend (Maybe about 70 if the Mack trade did happen and we signed him long term) during this offseason and I am sure a few tackles will be on the market we could go after. Mack is an all pro player and we wouldn't have to address our pass rushing need for years to come.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2014/09/13/nfl-new-drug-policy-three-things/15571205/

I don’t see a problem with his tweet about weed. He put the word “random” in quotes. His point was that the tests are, in fact, not random. Many other players have made the same case.

that $30 mill number that was leaked was not fully guaranteed. the smarter bet was to play on the second tag number and get a huge guarantee the next year for a total way more than a non guaranteed $30 mill

Le’Veon said he missed the walkthrough for personal reasons and Tomlin defended him after the fact. Who knows if that’s true tho

DeCastro said the Steelers obsession with the patriots was an embarrassment, not Le’Veon himself

Knocking someone for not showing up to camp under the tag (for two years, not the three you claim) is nonsense ... especially when he was first team all pro after missing camp last year. He’s clearly putting in the work.

It seems like you don’t like him so you’re reaching for reasons to support that sentiment

Bell is a different type of running back. He takes care of himself while running. He’s a lot like Curtis Martin in that way.

That means he’s not going to fall apart early like a lot of running backs do. So I’m not worried about that.

But I don’t think he will be effective anywhere he goes. He is a patient running back, a little TOO patient. That requires a good offensive line and a zone running scheme

I'll take the quote directly from toh CBA and Nflpa to be more accurate than a news story.
    https://www.nflpa.com/active-players/drug-policies
Honestly I don't give a fuck why he missed the walk thru, he missed it and was late to the game the following day!
Then had the nerve to throw his teammates under the bus's.
He held out in 16,17 and now in 18. That's 3 not 2!
Decastro was directing his comment at Bell in response to his trash talking and Twitter tirade the night before an emarassing playoff loss.
Your also completely ignoring his "rap" bashing his franchise, his public comments against teammates and coaches, his arrest history and both serious knee injuries.
I will also throw in that I don't believe he will have the same success here. Pittsburgh has much better Receivers, you can't really stuff the box against them, plus once he gets his Big , guaranteed payday, he could very easily fall off a cliff. He seems the type, personality wise.(strictly a gut feeling)
Your correct about one thing though, I don't like him off the field! On the field he's is a great player, when he's available.
You are defending his off field actions because you do like him.
My argument is valid. He is a complete fuckup off the field. Not what you need around a young team. There's a reason Sheldon and Mo and Marshall were released.

None of us know these guys personally but everything you read about Mack is that he’s NOT going to pull a Wilk and dog it after he gets his big money but will work even harder to justify his contract.

Saw someone call him the Modest Megastar.

THAT’S the guy I’m going to gamble on giving big $$ to.

Not a recalcitrant RB with lots of miles on his tires and not a POS headcase one arrest away from a 4 game suspension that can’t stop fighting with teammates.

    from your link ...

he didnt hold out in 2016 and he has one major knee injury (mcl/pcl, which dont carry the re-injury risk of an acl). his other knee injury was a hyperextension

"I love round 2’s...we’ll have two round 2’s in back to back weeks..." is what he said before the jax game ... was that presumptuous? absolutely. a twitter tirade?? cmon

claims like these are why i said youre reaching

i havent heard his rap (im sure its terrible), so ill take your word for it

he did say that some of his teammates werent ready to play in the jax game. i agree, that is a lame statement to make to the press

the bold is an absolutely valid point

im actually pretty indifferent to him off of the field. hes made mistakes but hes not a complete fuck up like josh gordon or randy gregory were ... what i do know is that hes been the best back in the league for the past three-plus years and he has the running style and receiving skills to age gracefully

Yes my link from the NFLPA. I also have the CBA on PDF but it's a bit long to post..... Lol
Your correct, he was suspended in 16,
He suffered a grade 1 ACL pull when he hyperextend his knee in 14. Same injury Teddy suffered in HS and Tannerhill suffered before blowing up his knee the following year. It leaves the knee joint loose, it surely contributed to his MCL injury the following year.

That tweet was him overlooking the Jags, was made after midnight and he showed up late for the game the following day. He then threw his teammates under the bus for overlooking the Jags.....
That's one of his less innocuous tweets.
He's in a Twitter beef with someone new weekly.
It's just a sign of his immaturity.
I don't disagree with you about his ability. He is more than a great back, he's a very good Reciever too. The #s don't lie, you look at his stats and can't help but be impressed, especially given how many games he has missed. 18 regular season games in 5 seasons. That's more than a full seasons production and there's no one close.
I just dislike the baggage he brings off the field and fear that production won't continue , or he won't be available when needed.

Plenty of Jet fans have no idea just how good this guy, really is. Some consider him "just a RB" without understanding that he's a 3 down back who's able to catch 60-70-80+ receptions any given season and also excellent in pass protection. Not to mention an All-Purpose top tier runner.

Dude broke the All-Time Steelers record with 236 rushing yards during a single game. In January of 2017 he set a Pittsburgh postseason record with 167 rushing yards. The very next week he broke his own record with 170 rushing yards. He's an absolute animal. He's one of only 4 players (All-Time) to ever rush for 150+ yards during back to back playoff games and one of only 3 players (All-Time) within NFL history to have two 160+ yard playoff games in a career.

He's only 26 years of age and it's not looking like he'll be breaking down any time soon. His field vision is the best I've ever seen since dating back to #20 Barry Sanders and because of that I feel and believe he's got a good 4-6 years left.

I can understand fans not wanting to give a RB big money. I can understand fans wanting to draft a RB etc etc but I can not understand fans who consider him "just a RB". Once you combine his rushing ability along with pass catching ability he then becomes a top 1-5 offensive weapon amongst all NFL RB's/WR's/TE's. Top 5 offensive weapon amongst skilled player positions, hands down.

There is a real reason why Pittsburgh has hit him with a Franchise Tag not once, but twice. He's the real deal.

I'd love a Khalil Mack pass rusher. Who wouldn't. But if I had to decide from the two? I'm taking Le'Veon Bell (+ our 1st for a franchise LT) because unlike Khalil Mack; Le'Veon Bell will open up the entire field for a young Darnold, he'll make Sam Darnold 10x better, much more deadly as a potential franchise quarterback, ignite our entire offensive attack and as a fan, I'm tired of dumping all of our money into our defense while watching our offense struggle.

I miss the days of Chad Pennington & especially #28 Curtis Martin. Sam Darnold and Le'Veon Bell would be sick.

If you were to offer both Sam Darnold and OC Jeremy Bates the opportunity to feature Le'Veon Bell? They'd drive to Pittsburgh to pick up his luggage.

These aren’t opinions set in a vacuum.

Do you think you’re the only football fan who has seen him play?
