Unfortunately, I still think he is carrying the injury stigma around.

Teams may look at it as a risky trade for them yet.

Best? They used it on a reach 1st round CB pick (Milliner) that no team is interested in at this time. Getting a 1st was great, blowing it on a scrub player is awful but the picks were slim. That draft class is turning out to be one of the worst in recent years. When Zach Ertz is looking like the best player taken in the 1st 2 rounds (I like Ertz but he he's a 2nd round pick) it has to go down as one of the worst draft classes in recent memory.

I'm someone opposed vehemently to trading Teddy .I don't understand why us, a franchise still without a QB (Darnold is the real deal, but not 100% proven or even played 1 game) want to trade away a promising talent there. Take the shotgun approach. Draft and get as many promising QBs as you can and you likely will end up with one becoming a star. That's more valuable than the next Devin Smith.

Look at the history of players in Round 3/4. 1 out of every 25 make a pro bowl. Look at our 2nd round choices. Marcus Maye appears to be the only one who has panned out in maybe a decade.

However, if Macc can get a 2nd from someone, I say pull the trigger. After all Teddy is on a one year deal, so even if he plays well, we won't 100% certain get him back in FA. I think injury needs to occur for this to happen though. I'm not so sure anyone will trade a 2nd for him for a backup or insurance type roll.

You're right about 2013's draft class not being the best overall, although I'd without question take the likes of a Le'Veon Bell who's currently the NFL's best overall 3-down work horse back, DeAndre Hopkins as a top tier dynamic WR, a SB Winning (starting) OT from Philadelphia in Lane Johnson, a 3x Pro Bowler & an NFL All-Pro of a Center in Travis Frederick (Dallas Cowboys), an animal of an outside/edge pass rusher in Ezekiel Ansah and without question my dude from FSU who's a true #1 CB for the Vikings and 2x Pro Bowler/1x First-team All-Pro (2017) in Xavier Rhodes... All over a pass catching TE in Zach Ertz.

    Also.

When the NY Jets traded away Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, we did not draft "Dee Milliner" with the pick from Tampa (for Revis).

We drafted Sheldon Richardson with the pick for Revis from Tampa... Not Dee Milliner.

Nonetheless as we all know, Dee Milliner was a wasted pick (hindsight).

But the Revis trade was a great one and still benefiting us today. We landed Sheldon Richardson for Revis but it gets even better. We traded Sheldon for Jermaine Kearse who just put up 800+ yards as a 1st year Jet + a 2nd round pick (for Sheldon) in which we used (2nd round pick) in order to trade up for Darnold.

Yes. The Revis trade to TB was awesome and one of the best trades in Franchise history. First we got Sheldon and then turned him into Kearse + a 2nd round pick from Seattle; which was used to trade up for Darnold (6th to 3rd).

So in a sense. We may not even have Sam Darnold as of today, if not for #24 Darrelle Revis of yesterday. Crazy.

Sounds like Mac is trying to solicit trade offers by taking to the media.

Rightfully so, but Teddy's play this preseason is doing most of the soliciting. Giants would be fools to not trade for him. All they got is a rusty old Eli and an crapshoot in Webb. "Don't sleep" on the Giants trading their 2nd rounder for him. :D

menish ( nydn) seems to think that denver might be a trading darkhorse for teddy.
chad kelly, who mac could have had for a 7th round pick, has already passed lynch, who was a 1st round pick.
so, if denver wants teddy as keenan backup, get at least a 2nd and kelly for him. jets could use kelly as developmental qb behind josh and sam, figuring that josh will not be back next year. then, kelly becomes the backup.
if he beats out our first round pick, then the scouts have really screwed up. he could end up playing because there is no sure thing as far as injury protection with the current o-line.

I hope and pray Teddy is lights out against the Giants, if eventually we get ready to talk trade.

We may have taken Richardson at pick 13 but we took Milner because we traded Revis. No Revis trade no Milner. Essentially we got Milner, Saunders and some cap space for Revis.

Now would we have taken Richardson at 9 if we kept Revis maybe or maybe not.

rumor is the 2 teams have contacted the jets for teddy (one of which is possibly the broncos) and that the jets would be willing to take a 4th rounder for him if it creates a "win win" situation for teddy and the team. The jets have only invested 1 million in teddy so to trade a million bucks for a top pick is a steal for the jets

A day 3 pick is hardly a top pick.

true but it's not a terrible pick either since we basically got it free

Report: At least two teams have already called Jets about Teddy Bridgewater
Posted by Darin Gantt on August 20, 2018, 1:42 PM EDT

    AP

The Jets have made it reasonably clear that quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is available, and the calls are starting to come in.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, at least two teams have “expressed interest” in acquiring the former Vikings first-rounder, and have discussed a potential trade with the Jets. He adds that there have been no concrete offers which would prompt a move, which is confirmed by the fact he hasn’t been moved yet.

The Jets know they’re in a buyer’s market, one which will only go up if someone’s starter gets hurt (the way the Vikings gave a first and a conditional fourth for Sam Bradfordwhen Bridgewater went down two years ago).

He mentions the Broncos as a possibility, and John Elway has made it clear he’s hoping for more from his No. 2 quarterback behind Case Keenum.

Bridgewater has played well in his two games this preseason, after missing most of the last two years because of the knee injury. Bridgewater is 17-of-23 for 212 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. That’s made more impressive by the fact he is getting his first extending time in two years.

The Jets signed him as a backup plan, before they knew they’d be able to draft Sam Darnold third overall. They’ve invested $1 million in him so far, as part of a one-year, $6 million contract.

One of the two teams that contacted the Jets about trading for Teddy Bridgewater is the Jets. Macc LOVES bidding against himself (see Revis, Fitzpatrick, McCown)

I couldn’t imagine still bitching about the McCown contract.

That's like saying giving away a free car for $100 isn't terrible because we got it for free.

Saw an article from Bleacher Report that the Jets would need something significant for Teddy. They seem to be receiving multiple offers so that should drive the price up a bit.

Not sure the article is accurate. The Hawks don't have a 2nd round pick next year.
